You could have got the game in store and the dvd online with free shipping. I tried to find the most expensive set that qualified.

I had no idea I could do that. Fucking A. I would have loved to be able to pick up one of the RR or Mania Anthologies for $4.99.

That's what I did. Their online selection included SS and RR anthology volumes. Royal Rumble volume 3 for $5? One of the best deals I've ever gotten.

No, reports have said that because it's so close to the release date, and some copies might already be in circulation, it would be a spectacular waste of money considering the production and advertisement of the DVD.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes OOP after a few months.

I don't think they have time to pull the plug on that one. A few weeks too late.

I sure hope not, at least. Was looking forward to this also.

it puts wwe in a tough decision, either lose millions on the dvd or give tna and hogan a massive plug

I could see the Hogan DVD being a first run production now. It will be probably be OOP within a few weeks, so i'm definitely picking one up Nov. 17.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Vince McMahon is a billionaire though!! The guy wasted millions on the XFL years back and it didn't even put a dent in his bank account. I am sure he would pull the Hogan dvd without even thinking twice now and it wouldn't bother him. Plus the Hogan dvd wasn't gonna be a big hit anyhow, the matches on it for old school fans were nostalgic to the old MSG Garden shows and any match you ever saw on a Best of the WWF Volume coliseum video back in the day. But to the new fans, they wouldn't understand the bad lighting, strange commentary and such. The Hogan dvd was probably just a sad attempt by the WWE to get the old school fans to purchase a dvd. I couldn't imagine little 8 year old Johnny saying to his parents "I want that Hogan dvd so I can see that match he had with Rick Rude at the Boston Garden in 1988."

So if the Hogan dvd does get pulled, I wouldn't be too surprised. It will suck for the old school fans (like myself) because I do enjoy watching those old televised house shows. Oh well, I guess only time will tell now in what ol' Vinnie Mac does now.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Some news on the Hogan DVD,

The WWE produced Hulk Hogan's Unreleased Collector's Series DVD, which is set for a release in a few weeks, will still come out. The DVD is already in the duplication phase, and word is that the company will simply downplay the release and treat it as a "nostalgia" DVD.

The DVD won't get scrapped.

To be fair, how often do you really see common sense used on the internet these days? There are plenty of people out there who have been wondering whether the DVD will still come out. I don't see what the problem is. You act like dirt sheet sites haven't been doing this bullshit for like 15 years or more.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

I know there were at least 1 or 2 people who missed out on the Guerrero 7 disc set, but good news, I was in BB today and they restocked with 3 of them, still at $39.99 well worth the $$$$. The Edge set is still $49.99 and looks to have been restocked as well.

Man, I love the holiday season...we have a wrestling release basically every week:

11/3-
WWE Hell In A Cell PPV
Survivor Series Anthology Vol 1
Survivor Series Anthology Vol 2
11/10
TNA No Surrender
11/17
Hogan Unreleased Collector's Series
11/24
WWE Bragging Rights
12/15
Jeff Hardy My Life My Rules
History of the World Championship
12/22
Survivor Series

Heads Up...ROH is having their 40% off sale again, on all purchases over $30. You get 35% off if your order is less than $30. I just placed a massive 11 title order and it came to under $75 including shipping. Pretty sweet, next up I"m grabbing Secrets of the Ring with Raven Volumes 2-5 ( I have Vol 1 luckily)

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

This looks like the now more typical documentary with bonus matches configuration as oppossed to the fill in the history and view match were appropriate like the History of the WWE Championship dvd, ladder match and Hell in Cell sets, I'm not sure which I like better for this kind of release.

I didn't get the IC title set yet, how was that one setup? What is everyone's opinion on these type of releases?

Don't know how true this is, but the 1st 2 discs are tremendous.
Most of disc 1 doesn't interest me, but there are a lot of nice surprises in there:

-The steel cage retirement match between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. I know a lot of us, including me, have wanted to see that one. Probably the second-best Hogan/Flair match after their first at Bash at the Beach.
-Sting/Hogan II at SuperBrawl. The rematch from Starrcade, which was light years better.
-Jeff Jarrett vs. Booker T at Bash at the Beach?!? No fucking way! Really good match, and one of last great moments in WCW history.
-I know it will be blurred to hell, but Rock/Jericho at No Mercy was their best match, and one of the best of the year.

-Cool to see the first whc match at Unforgiven '02.
-Angle/Undertaker is a nice addition.
-That Mysterio/Orton match was ppv quality.

The only few cons are:
-I can't think of any reason why they would put HHH/HBK from Taboo Tuesday, other than that HBK was injured and fought his ass off. Otherwise, the match sucked.
-The triple-threat match between Batista/Edge/UT was a royal clusterfuck.
-Why is Cena vs. Jericho important? Because it was Cena's return match? Ugh.

Other than that, if this is all true, most likely going to pick this up.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

This dvd actually looks confusing for the matches. First of all, Scott Steiner vs. Ric Flair from the COTC is complete shit!! Seriously, I have that Clash and that match is garbage. A better match from a Clash would have been the Ric Flair vs. Bobby Eaton match, that was Flair's last WCW televised match before he left over that dispute with Herd.

Also, will the story on disc one set everything straight about the NWA Title and the WCW Title?? For anyone who doesn't know anything from this time period of 1992 and 93 (chuckliddell I know you are a big WCW fan so you may actually know what I am referring about with this) but the WCW Title and the NWA Title both were in WCW. While Vader was WCW Champ, Barry Windham was NWA Champion. The title he had was the big Gold Belt that we see on Smackdown. In fall of 93 when the NWA left WCW that title became the WCW International World Title. Therefore Rick Rude was the WCW Internationl World Champion, and it fell 2nd place to Flair being the WCW Champion then.

So shouldn't this documentary on this belt not include anything involving Lex Luger from 1991 to when Flair and Sting unify the WCW and International Titles at a Clash in June 94, thus Flair using the old NWA Title as the WCW Title??

See, even the history on the WCW belt is just as confusing as the WCW organization itself at times.

I was just coming here to post the same info. Just placed a small order of the latest releases basically. Saving 40% is always a plus.

Amazon currently has the first two volumes of the Survivor Series Anthology for $35.99 each. Don't know if anyone will have them cheaper but it sounded like a decent price to me so I pre-ordered.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Personally I think WWEshop had the best deal on the Survivor Series anthology, I ordered both volumes for $59.99 total and then used their code to get the Kane DVD for free with it. Kane's DVD isn't one I would have gone out and paid full price for but added on for free it sounded good.

Not bad at all. WWEShop is pretty good with the freebies.

I had $10 on my Amazon account thanks to a botch on their parts so I wound up getting both for a bit under $62. They were both listed at $45 the other day so maybe they'll go down a bit more before release day.

No it shouldn't. Didn't that match end in a "tie"? How can that be a Last man Standing match? They should wait however long it takes and whomever gets up first is the winner.
