I think the $10 coupon with the initial DC release was meant to soften the blow for people who want both cuts of the movie.

What I want to know is this: are we going to receive the coupon through e-mail on the 10th? Some people are saying the 1st of December...that would piss me off.

I really wish this had all three cuts. I liked Watchmen, but I didn't love it, and I'd probably be happiest with the theatrical cut, but would be curious to see the other two.

I'll be picking this up as well sometime. Didn't seem like the Director's cut was out long before they discontinued it in favor of this.

Neither Target nor Best Buy had this in their ads for the 10th. Did the last-minute week-delay of release throw everyone out of whack? It wasn't in the 11/3 ad either. I'm going to assume that the ads are printed a week/weeks ahead of time.

I've never heard of dvd reviewers not reviewing dvds that cost more than $45. It's one thing if there are no reviews before the official DVD release, but it's been four days after official release day, and still no DVD reviews...

Same goes for the G.I. Joe complete box set. I'm missing just 16 or so episodes of the last season, so I pray that they will release that last season on dvd separately...

The boxset of Transformers? If you don't have it, why not just buy it? I would buy that set instantly if I didn't already own the original Rhino ones and the UK PAL Metrodome ones...I've seen the video on those and they are so much better than the Rhino/Metrodome ones, but I spent so much money on completing my Transformers set that I'm not going to re-buy all that. I like the DD 5.1 more than the original audio anyway...
You might be the first person I have ever heard say that...I hate the 5.1 mix on the Rhino discs, sounds really artificial and processed, plus the newly added sound effects = teh suk.....

Watched the Ultimate Version and found the Black Freighter to be out of place compared to the film and was distracting for me. THe few little extensions at the newstand werent too bad. Glad I decided to pass on this version.

Out of curiosity, are you a fan of the Graphic Novel?

Yes, I like the graphic novel but probably not as much as others. It was nice to see a more complete version of the film closer to the novel but it just felt out of place going from film to cartoon. I may check it out again down the road but wont be putting down anything more than $20 for it since i dont own the motion comic yet or the other features from the black freighter. Walmart near me had it out already in BD and it was $44.96.

I'd kind of imagined this. Because it works in the graphic novel doesn't mean it will transfer to film, they're completely different mediums. I kind of thought of this more as a curiousity than a satisfying film... at some point I might see it but I'd rather have the Director's Cut.

my plan is to buy the ultimate set when it gets closer to 20, then buy the directors cut for around 10 (used?), then take the digital copy dvd from the ultimate set and toss it and put the directors cut in.
