Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Just a little personal note, I received my copy of Volume 32 from Shout! yesterday and according to the counting system of FilmAficionado, that makes #1300 of combined DVDs and Blus.

I think I may have a problem...

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Shout! is reissuing Vol 1 on Sept. 1st with some new extras:

Experiencing déjà vu? Do not adjust your TV set (or tablet or phone), because it’s true: behold, again, the first collection of episodes of the beloved TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 with Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume 1. Since we at Shout! Factory believe that no one should have to sell an organ to afford an out-of print DVD of their favorite show, we’ve gathered all four episodes: Catalina Caper, The Creeping Terror, Bloodlust and The Skydivers, along with their respective theatrical trailers; restored the missing little details from the original broadcast versions and added brand new bonus features including The Crown Jewels, a featurette on Crown International Pictures, The Creeping Terror trailer, an extended trailer for The Creep Behind the Camera and
The Creep Behind the Camera Q&A with Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu at Screamfest 2014.

I've got Volume 1, but if the price is right, a double dip might be in order.

Great news. Hopefully they're able to go back and re-release all of the former Rhino volumes, although I'm guessing the original Volume 10 with Godzilla vs. Megalon is unlikely.

So will this Vol 1 release be their fall release, in lieu of Vol 34, or will they release 4 sets this year?

No, it looks like Vol 1 will fall between new set releases.

Interesting. I have all the original Rhino boxes so I don't *need* it, but if it were to show up at a discount I might get it for the extras.

Shout is having a flash sale on the Turkey Day set today. $30 with free shipping, which includes the tin slipcover and a set of coasters.

I kind of wish I had waited.

Something else, that looks like a regular sized case that can hold four discs. I wonder if it's just for this release or for all new ones too? Would certainly save shelf space.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Per this article:

UPDATE: The A.V. Club reached out to Shout! Factory to see if any future upgrades of out-of-print Rhino MST3K DVDs are in the works. According to a Shout! representative, “There are no plans to re-release the other volumes at this time.”
http://www.avclub.com/article/shout-...iginal--220334

I hope this sells well enough to convince them to put other volumes back in print. While I doubt I'll get this just for the new extras, my Rhino collection is far from complete. (I own Volumes 1, 2, 3, 10, 10.2, and 12, as well as Mitchell, The Essentials, and Shorts Vol. 3.)

Same here. I'd rather they focus on releasing new episodes, but I'll still get this set just to have new transfers.

The pre-sale price on Amazon is $34.99. A little rich for my blood since I have the Rhino box, but for someone looking to fill a hole in the collection, it's in the ballpark. In a few months (Black Friday maybe?) or January or something, the price will probably come down to where I think a double dip would be reasonable.

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

If you haven't picked up 32 yet, Deep Discount has it at 35.05 - 15% coupon(BOUNTY) = 29.79, plus a few % cashback through a shopping portal. Probably will be cheaper around Xmas, but it's the cheapest that I've seen it so far. Coupon is good through the 30th.

They also have a number of other Shout MST3K titles for 35.05 or 35.18, so around $30

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

I'd never heard of this service, but the MST3K Facebook page posted the link, so it's legit. A channel that streams episodes:

http://pluto.tv/guide/mst3k

Right now it's Teenagers From Outer Space. I love that one.

Anyone going to Rifftrax's Sharknado 2 live event? I'm heading out on vacation in the morning. This would be potentially the first one I ever missed. Thank goodness for the replays.

They used PlutoTV for the last Turkey Day Marathon.

Ah. I missed that unfortunately. Thanksgiving is a busy day, when not in a food coma.

Due to some family stuff, I didn't make it to either showing of Sharknado 2. Did anyone get the goodie link?

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Thank goodness for the replays. I was away on a family vacation last week and couldn't make it to the live showing. My streak of having seen all of their live events - minus whatever wasn't widely broadcast through Fathom - continues!

Having said that, while Sharknado 2 was funny (the Jared from Subway moment maybe being the best, probably because it was so weirdly timely and awkward), this wasn't as good as the riffs usually are. I think it's better when the movies they riff are legitimately aiming for quality rather than Sharknado 2's winking "yeah, this is cheesy crap" attitude.

Anyone going to Miami Connection tomorrow? I've never been to one of the Rifftrax Live screenings before, but I actually like Miami Connection so I figure this will be a good one to be my first.

This is the first one in a few years that I won't be able to attend live. I will be seeing the Replay on Tuesday

Re: Official MST3K / Rifftrax / Cinematic Titanic DVD Thread

Sharknado 2 was the first rebroadcast I went to, after years of seeing them live every time. I had something else going on last night, so I'll have to catch Miami Connection next week. I'm just glad they show them twice.
