DVD shipping question
 

I just completed an auction,

I want to ship the DVDs, none of them have cases, I don't wish to buy cases for each of them. How should I ship them/present them to the mail person? Just bring the DVDs in a bag and tell them to handle it? Thanks.

I am serious. I do realize the DVDs will fit in a box that the mail room provides. The problem is that DVDs without a case are considered loose. But I have no obligation to provide a case for any of the DVDs because my auction specifically states the DVDs come with no case. I have no cases for the DVDs. I am just asking what do I do.

You do, however, need to get the discs to the buyer in the condition described in your auction. Perhaps a 3-ring binder with sheets that hold discs will work.

I have 100+ DVDs, where can I find a DVD binder for that, and approximately how much does one cost? Is there a cheaper method in keeping the DVDs safe? Is there anyway the mail room can put the DVDs in a package and then put that package in another package and that will suffice?

How about putting each one in an envelope? Or a folded over piece of paper taped shut. The possibilities are endless.

i feel real bad for whoever bought your auction. and i just hope you were dead honest and made it known what they were getting. and to not research and have this set to go with all this prior is the questionable nature to which i speak of.

You can get 100 paper cases/sleeves for like 10 bucks, maybe less. Don't be so cheap.

By "mail room" do you mean "post office"?

It's your responsibility to package and mail your shit. Buy some inexpensive paper sleeves. Put one disc per sleeve. Two stacks of 50 should fit in one of the post office's new flat-rate boxes. Pad any empty space with wadded up newspaper or paper towel.

How did you end up with more than 100 DVDs without cases? Shoplifting? Are you the reason all my DVDs come with latches and three pieces of tape sealing the cases shut?

I bought something similar to this in Target - amazon.com/Travel-Case-DVD-Koskin-256/dp/B000R5B5B6/ref=sr_1_41?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1252895352&sr=1-41

I put approximately 200 DVDs in there (there were more than I thought because of the TV shows that have more than 1 DVD). After I put the DVDs in there, the case feels like it weighs 10 lbs. Can something with so much weight be mailed? What is the maximum? Thanks.

The paper-sleeve method does work - they're cheap (~50 for $1.99), light (lower weight = lower shipping cost) and don't add much bulk (smaller package = lower shipping cost). However, they have been known to leave light scratches on discs (putting them in or taking them out), especially if they're in a loose package just floating around (this could be a problem if they arrive in a worse condition than described).

The same can be true about a spindle or even the 3-ring-binder type books/sheets.

The easiest way without causing too much trouble would probably be the white paper sleeves - put one disc per case (don't try to be cheap and double-stack them!), and tape them shut tight (so the disc doesn't float in them). Secure them inside the box somehow (preferably with foam or packing peanuts) and make sure they're in a box (I've had discs cracked in the padded envelopes before)

Oh yeah. How descriptive. I'm waiting for the "YAET: Buyer Claims I Misled Them" thread in the Other Forum after the guy gets his package of scratched to hell DVDs.

There's no way that transaction is going to go well - the guy is charging $25 in shipping when this won't cost more than $10 tops. You could throw a binder in a flat-rate priority box and be set.

packaging these for shipping should have been figured out long before you even put them up for auction.
