Philosophically I agree that donating DVDs to worthy causes would be a great thing to do, and might have similar tax advantages, but you're still talking about dumping a lot of product on the market that's already proved it won't pay for it. Putting that in libraries won't help sales.

I agree with Neil M. Sure, there are some potential sales in getting a customer hooked on a series, but more likely they'll wait for another BL sale or just get something else similarly cheap. Plus, many kids will be happy enough watching the same episodes over and over. And sure, season 1 sales happen with that strategy but not at BL prices.
