Fear Itself---Sept 15, 2009

Some of the episodes were horrible some were good. Good price and packaging.

For those of you who were fans of Fear Itself, and were disappointed that a stack of episodes never aired, get ready for September 15th as Lionsgate Home Entertainment will be releasing all 13 episodes on DVD, including four director's cuts and five unaired episodes! Read on for the skinny.
Today's most talented horror directors and writers including John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Ronny Yu (Freddy vs. Jason), Mary Harron (American Psycho), Victor Salva (Jeepers Creepers), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw IV), Sean Hood (Halloween: Resurrection) and Rupert Wainwright (The Fog) have teamed up to create a unique television experience that leaves viewers with nothing to fear but Fear Itself.

Fear Itself on DVD features 13 episodes, including four director's cut and five unaired episodes, from the chilling series that aired on NBC during the summer of 2008. The episodes - "Eater," "The Sacrifice," "Community," "In Sickness & In Health," "Spooked," "The Family Man," "New Year's Day," "Skin and Bones," "Something With Bite," "The Spirit Box," "Chance," "Echoes," and "The Circle" - feature great casts including Elisabeth Moss (TV's "Mad Men"), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trek) and James Roday (TV's "Psych").

In addition, each episode on the DVD includes a "Recipe for Fear" making of featurette that contains cast and director interviews along with behind the scenes footage that addresses what they each think is scary to them, and how they brought that to their short film. The 4-disc DVD set is encased in special collector's edition skeleton tombstone packaging. Pricing: DVD $29.98 (4-Disc Set)

If I can get this for under $20 I'll bite. Some good episodes in there, plus I'd like to see the unaired/DC eps, too.

Agreed, I'm sure by the holidays it will probably be pretty damn cheap since its retailing at under $30... Maybe Santa will have to get this for me

Wasn't this kind of a cleaned up version of Masters of Horror?

The MSRP being under $30 pretty much ensures that I'll be picking this up.

It was a neutered version of it. It was alright...some episodes were utter crap though.

I never got the chance to catch this on NBC, but I liked the few episodes I saw online. I'll probably pick this up.

I might get this, if only for Skin and Bones. That was pretty freaky for a tv episode.

I will get this because I am a Shiri Appleby fan (who was in "Community") and the package looks great too.

Wound up picking this up yesterday. The packaging looks cool but it's not great for a 4 disc set. Two discs each sit on a deeper than average hub, one on each side. Got a piece of thick foam between hubs to prevent the discs from rubbing against each other. The plastic for the set is pretty damn cheesy too.

I'm curious to check out the 5 unaired episodes. Will either pick this up if the price is right or just check them out on FearNet.

Basically. Showtime didn't renew MoH after Season 2, so Garris and Lionsgate signed with NBC.

Yep. NBC said that it would return after the Olympics to finish out its run and, well.... yea.

I've watched three so far and enjoyed them all. Saving most of them for the Halloween challenge, but I'm happy as hell to own this. Never caught any on TV.

Working on a review of this, and I'm halfway through. The packaging is cool/cheesy for sure, but as far as content, I'm feeling about a 65% success rate - much better than I expected. The real problem is Network Commercial Pacing. Ugggh.

Re: Fear Itself---Sept 15, 2009

Just finished watching Disc 1. Just an FYI, not that it really matters, but the episodes are not in the same order as they were on NBC.

The Director's Cut of the "Eater" episode with Elisabeth Moss from Mad Men was great.
