Had a $5 gift certificate so I nabbed this for $8.99 and am having it mailed to our place c/o my wife instead of me. She loves this movie and will flip out to see a new release! When we were first dating, just a few months in, she came over and we were going to watch a movie. She went through my collection and flipped out when she saw The Gate. We pulled the futon mattress down on the floor and cuddled up to watch it.

Exactly. I already downloaded the keep case art, and have replaced the crappy jewel case from the previous release. I'm perfectly happy with my fullscreen, original DVD of this movie. It's just disappointing they had to ruin it like that.

I really don't understand why you wouldn't want a much better version of the film just because of the cover, especially when you obviously have no problem using custom art.

Guess I have different principles than you. Not saying they're better or worse, just different.

I do agree the cover art royally sucks but I care more about the movie honestly.

How are the extras on this? I'd be interested to hear some insight on the stop motion minions.
