Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

There are 4 dvds out, all of them have some great videos.
HIStory Vol 1- has mainly clips from videos pre-1996, contains the full version of Bad and Black or white and the way you make me feel.
HIStory Vol 2- has some classics, along with most of the videos for HIStory along with the full 1995 mtv performance.
Dangerous - All the short films for the album dangerous.
Number Ones - Pretty much a best of recap, it does contain A different version of Blood on the dance floor, Smooth criminal. This also contains You rock my world (but it is the short version)

Basiclly if you want all the videos, you need all 4 dvds. And then there are still videos that have been released. They the superior "jail" version of they don't care about us.

Doesn't appear so. If/when they release Moonwalker it would be on there and I'm sure that will be announced soon for R1.

Picked up Moonwalker via YesAsia.

It appears they have R2 Japan, and R3 HK/Taiwan releases.

Not going to wait around for the R1 version unless it's on Blu or some uber-SE.

Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

I don't know where this came from - while doing a regular search for (legit) Captain EO/Moonwalker DVDs, one actually popped up!

http://www.amazon.com/Michael-Jackso.../dp/B0033TJATW

It appears to have been released last week, but I heard nothing of it.

Studio: MSI:WARNER BROTHERS
DVD Release Date: January 16, 2010

Ordered mine (and it just shipped today) - seems a bit odd as it's a Region 1 WB release, but has japanese on it:

EDIT: Cant link to cover - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg

Glad it isn't the Region 2/international covers!

Shipped and Sold by Amazon, so I'm highly doubting it's a bootleg. It also doesn't appear to be an import.

I'll let you know how it is when I get it (sched. for Wednesday)

I really thought we'd have a lot more MJ stuff out on DVD or Blu-ray at this point.

I'm not big on capitalizing on celebrity deaths or anything, but these had been "often requested" titles for quite some time before MJ died.

Rumor is Moonwalker is hitting Blu-ray from Warner in international territories this year. No word if that release will also see it's way to the US.

Unfortunately, it probably IS a bootleg. Being sold at amazon means nothing, as they have sold copies of Battle Royale for quite some time. The japanese writing along with the fact that NO one has heard of this being released makes me suspicious.

I just checked NetFlix and they have it.

Very long wait, as per usual lately. I'm thinking about trying Blockbuster.

That's interesting. Amazon has it listed as being released on December 4, 2009 which was a Friday. Anyway, I wonder what IS going on with this.

I'm not sure what that language is, but it isn't Japanese, as far as I can tell. It looks like Chinese, but a couple of the characters don't look right (in particular, the one with a circle in it). Japanese doesn't use characters that look like those, as far as I know.

Based on that, plus the basic cover art, I just can't believe this thing is not a bootleg. I'm betting you'll be seeing a VHS->DVD transfer someone made. At least you'll get it for free, once you complain to Amazon they sold you a bootleg...

Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

Received my copy today - I'll report back (maybe with some pictures) tonight after I get a chance to check it out.

The disc does NOT seem to be a "USA" Release - It's coded Region 1, 3, and 4 but does have WB branding throughout (printed on cellophane wrapping as well as several spots on the case).

The front, spine and back have Korean language (the back is half korean, half english) - the disc is in English 2.0 Dolby, 1.37:1 Ratio, 93 minutes and has Korean, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Complex Chinese subtitles. NTSC Coding.

Back lists it as a 2010 release and has Warners US address.

The coverart is reversable and has a plain english only cover on the alternate side.

UPC is 8809277494831

Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

The english cover is nice, but the back of it is very plain (a LOT of empty space). I'll try to get some pictures up in the morning - I had a chance to do a quick spot-check. The only extras are a theatrical trailer - the picture quality is good but seemed overly dark (spot-checking a number of different places, it appeared to have some crushed blacks). Nothing terrible, but worth noting (and I'll need to watch the whole thing soon to see if it's actually a problem.

Probably not much!

But to include the (non-skippable) FBI warnings? And region code the disc? They must be serious about it!

The menus look a lot like the Region 3 version I bought in Singapore.

Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

This is such a strange release, it looks to be legit. But strange that Wb didn't release a normal R1 version, and put a little promotion behind it. This is something fans have wanted on DVD for 10 years, not to mention everyday people buying it up because of MJ's death.

According to an MJ fan message board a Blu Ray release of Moonwalker is due out in the spring, but is only confirmed for France at the moment. So who knows...

I think this is actually a Region 3 release (Korean) - The back lists it as Region 3, but the cellophane lists Region 1/3/4. Possibly a re-release (maybe with expanded region coding?)

The fine print on the back lists it as a 2010 release.

Re: Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Ghosts on DVD??

I opened up my copy from amazon today and it doesn't have korean writing anywhere on the artwork or disc. It didn't come with with a clear case, and has english text on a non-reversible artwork insert.
