How many multiple dips do you own?

How many multiple dips do you own?
For whatever reason... Different cuts of the film, packaging, just own two for some reason, etc...
List the films and why you own multiple copies.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

Nail Gun Massacre because one is a limited edition signed by the director but fullscreen. The other is widescreen.

A bunch of common public domain films, especially Night of the Living Dead, because they always seem to be in box sets like that.

A few others like Sleeping Beauty where the blu-ray version came with a DVD and I bought the previous DVD.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

Been very slow on this forum lately. Usually by now several people would have mentioned that we have dozens of threads about this.

I have more double dips that would fit inside of a post, unfortunately.

I considered finding one of those other threads. Then I remembered I'm lazy and the search function kind of sucks.

I also have more double dips than I care to admit. I've also got quite a few triples. I'm pretty sure I've avoided quadruples so far though.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

I tend to not double dip any DVD, but have done so a couple times...the only thing that I can think of right now is 1408 - Blockbuster Exclusive & 2-Disc Collector's Edition (got for free from the PepsiStuff promotion at the end of last year)

I don't think I have any "pure" quadruple dips, but I have several quintuple or more from exclusive hunting. But for all of those, I try to sell or give away all the extra movies, just keeping the exclusive parts.

Edit to correct: I own a quintuple dip of all the Princess Bride releases, I guess a sextuple dip if you count the DVD that comes in the BD.

I personally do not consider that a real "double dip", as those are two different formats....a "double dip" to me means buying the same film more than once on the same format....

If going from DVD to Blu-ray Disc was considered a double dip, then my list would be ginormous....

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

I generally don't double-dip, and when I do, it's to upgrade a title. At that point, I sell the previous version. Still, I do have:

Daredevil - theatrical and director's cut. I would have parted with the theatrical cut, but the bonus features weren't carried over and they're actually pretty cool.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Special Edition and collector's edition. Not sure why I've kept the older edition, aside from not being entirely sure all the features were retained.

Star Wars - Trilogy box set and 2-disc individual releases. Keep the box set for the Bonus Materials disc, keep the 2-discer's for the original theatrical cuts (still awaiting an anamorphic release thereof).

Superman: The Animated Series - Volume One and Volume Two, and Superman: The Last Son of Krypton and The Batman/Superman Movie. I prefer the all-as-one cut of those episodes to the broken-into-parts of the volume releases.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

I hate double dipping...such a waste of money. That said, I have some myself b/c of upgrades and extra features.

Dirty Dancing: Ultimate Edition
Dirty Dancing: 20th Anniversary Edition (this one for the extras)

Princess Bride: Special Edition
Princess Bride: 20 Anniversary Collector's Edition (this one for the cover, got it cheap and it's one of those movies I love, so couldn't resist)

The Parent Trap
The Parent Trap/The Parent Trap II (the 2nd movie wasn't offered by itself, so had to buy both)

Indiana Jones Complete collection-Have the movies separately, but then got a great deal on the collection that came with his replica hat, and had to have it.

Robin Hood: Gold Collection (bought used is fairly bad condition)
Robin Hood: Most Wanted Edition (this one was new)

Grease (went from fool screen to widescreen)

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

I've only been double dipping from DVD to HD DVD or Blu-ray. Unfortunately, or not, I went from HD DVD to Blu-ray on a few titles as well.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

The LOTR Trilogy theatrical and extended versions. Wide and fullscreen of The Simpsons movie, because they both happened to be in a single case together. That's it I think. I do own three different versions of The Marriage of Figaro, but I guess that doesn't count.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

Just King Kong vs Godzilla (unless you count the LotR Theatrical and Extended Editions), though I am planning on buying the recent Nightmare Before Christmas DVD now that I have a widescreen TV so I have an anamorphic transfer.

That's a tough one to follow considering I usually ditch most of the other ones I trade up on.

Re: How many multiple dips do you own?

I thought I was a fairly efficient DVD collector but after going thru my collection, I guess not so much. Here are my double-dips (only Revenge, Payback, and Troy do I actually own both versions since they are ,effectively, different movies.)

Here are the DDs:
Braveheart
Heat
Clueless
Crimson Tide
Deep Impact
Die Hard collection - went from the 3 movie collection to the 4 movie collection
Eyes Wide Shut - had to get rid of that CGI censoring
Ferris Bueller - not in the way that you'd imagine, I went backwards to the original
pressing to get the director's commentary.
Gandhi
Gladiator - hated losing that DTS though
Iron Giant
Payback
Troy
Revenge
Terminator 2

Slated for BD double-dip:
Enchanted
The Queen
Flyboys
Hidalgo

PS..there was also the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (uncut) double dip from a bootleg VHS to DVD.
