Preordered the set from Deep Discount, then ordered Peacekeeper Wars from Amazon new for $9.

So getting it for $83 total rather than $130 from Best Buy is definitely a good thing.

Also, for any fans who don't already know this, Farscape is continuing as a comic book series from BOOM studios with stories plotted by Rockne O'Bannon, one of the shows creators so they are official canon!

2 arcs out, already in HC format, a 3rd on the way, and the first issue of the now ongoing Farscape series comes out this Wed! There's also a seperate D'argo series of mini's being done, detailing his past.

So is the Best Buy exclusive just the exact same box set, but with P-Wars included? How is P-Wars packaged? If it's the exact same box set, why on earth would anyone get it at BB whent DDD has it for $75 shipped?

This is what the season cases look like. Single width keep cases.

Inside the box. I was dissapointed in that it is not a slip case, rather a box with flaps you have to open from either side.

And here is the inside of the season cases. Two discs are on the case itself and the rest are on two flip trays.

Cut the flaps off... problem solved... if you don't mind cutting it.

If you were already ordering the series set from Deep Discount why didn't you get the Peacekeeper Wars set from them as well since it's cheaper than Amazon?

Its in the box not shrinkwrapped to the outside. In the Archives case. PKWars with the set is a BB exclusive.

Thank you. I'm really bummed by this release. I'll still be getting it, it's one of my 2 favorite TV shows of all-time, + I sold off my 4 box sets, but those box sets were so nice looking, each in well made sturdy thick cases. This looks like a flimsy crappy cardboard box. I thought BB was having a special exclusive for this, so I'm disappointed w/ that as well. I just placed an order through DDD, for $75 shipped, its a waste to get this at best buy. P-wars can still be had for less than $9.

Thanks for the pics burnside.

I'm grateful A&E used keepcases for this set. I was worried with the amount of discs that they would be in sleeves like the The Shield set and the discs would have trouble with scratching. That's a huge relief. Can't wait to get my set and see what this show is all about!

Oh, and is there any kind of booklet or episode guide?

Re: Farscape: Why isn't it in print?

I like that it's compact, and the discs don't sit in cardboard sleeves, but I don't like how cheap it all looks.

Re: Farscape: Why isn't it in print?

No booklet, just episode names printed on the discs. Only inserts were a 3-4 page preview of the new comic series and an advert for a studio doing figures.

I would just collapse the box and store it somewhere safe. Then put the cases on my shelf.

Too bad about an episode guide. Oh well. :(

Do you know if there is anything new on the Peacekeeper Wars discs or if are they just the same 2 discs that were released a few years ago by Lions Gate?

I kinda like it. Doesn't look all that cheap to me. Also remember we are getting the entire series of FARSCAPE for an amazing price especialy compared to what the individual discs were going for years ago.

They're currently out of stock on Peacekeeper Wars at Deep Discount otherwise I would have gotten it there. Amazon at least said they currently had it.

LOL sides I needed something from Amazon to give me free shipping after ordering Star Trek. :-)

As far as I've heard its the exact same things from Lions Gate since they have nothing to do with what A&E is doing and Best Buy's just able to add it in, because..............well they're Best Buy.

Does the disc art match, or did they just stick the disc in the set?

Thanks for the pics!

Are both discs of the Peacekeeper Wars included in the Best Buy set or just the first disc?

Jeez, if this wasn't one of my favorite shows ever, I'd pass on the triple-dip. The starburst sets are way more attractive (except for my being stuck with DVD-18s for the early seasons, which is the main reason I'm replacing them). I can't believe that there is no episode guide or a disc-by-disc breakdown of the supplements. Seems to be a trend starting...

Its the same 2 disc set that is avaliable now. They kept the same disc artwork.

Yeah I know. The discs do have eps printed on them, and at least one disc per season has the bonus features (aside from ep specific commentaries), on the back of the cases themselves they have a listing of the bonus features along with the archives which is where most of the bonus goodies lie (i.e. Farscape:Undressed, interviews, ep overview with the composer and a feature on Virginia Hey on Zhann) Most of these were on the starburst editions, with the exception of Undressed, where this set is its debut.

BrandonJF 11-15-09 11:09 AM

Re: Farscape: Why isn't it in print?

There isn't anything else new besides Farscape Undressed, right? Have any Starburst features been found to be missing? I recall the original announcement had a lower commentary count, but it seems like that had been rectified. Even though the packaging isn't even close to the awesome Starburst packaging, if all the Starburst content is duplicated I might have to sell it off just to free up shelf space.

My Babylon 5 and Alias sets have these same kinds of hubs (albeit on translucent plastic), and I have difficult time removing the discs without bending them. Pushing on the center doesn't always work and tends to put stress on the disc on the other side of the flap, and I usually have to resort to prying the disc from the hub. If I push on the center, twist the disc, and pry gently at the edges, I can get the disc off with a minimal amount of bending, but it still puts more stress on the disc than I'd like.

Thanks Burnside, it'll be interesting to see if those hubs are still there in the non-BB version to put the discs on. Does it at least reference them on the "Archive" case?

They are easy to get off, no prying needed.

Reference what, sir?
