Suspiria Limited Edition DVD question

I was just wondering is the single disc that was released pretty much at the same time, the exact same one as the one found in the 3 disc set? I just found out that my playing disc is not playing well and I was wondering if it'd be replacable! Thanks!!

I'm not sure, but I know the 2-disk set that you can get on amazon for $13 is exactly the same.

Yes. And we're talkng about the Anchor Bay releases. Single-disc release is the exact same as the first disc in the limited 3-disc set.

The third disc was the movie soundtrack CD. The current BLUE UNDERGROUND 2 disc release is exactly the same as the Anchor Bay edition as far as disc content.

Re: Suspiria Limited Edition DVD question

I'm not 100% certain, but isn't there a defective batch somewhere? My 3-disc set also has problems playing (disc 1).... there's a lot of freezing and chugging and stuttering. I've just put up with it for many years now... never got around to replacing it.

Yeah I used to own the single disc AB version, the movie played fine but the trailers kept freezing up on me.

Suspiria wasn't defective. I remember having issues with the trailers on my Proscan player at the time of it's release; but I haven't had any issues on my Toshiba HD-A2 or XBOX.

All the copies of Opera, which was released on the same day, were all defective.

what was defective about Opera? I recently bought a copy of the #d 2 disc set to replace my old 1 disc, but haven't watched it yet.

Suspiria wasn't PS2 compatible; it would glitch up about halfway through if you tried playing it on one.

If I'm not mistaken the defective copies of Opera would not play in players at all.

The new corrected versions have a red "O" (with a black colored circle around it) at the bottom of the artwork side of the disc.

I accidentally bought a defective 2-Disc Edition of Opera a couple years ago. Luckily I found the corrected Single Disc for dirt cheap and just switched out the discs.

Yes, it was OPERA and NOT SUSPERIA that had the known defective pressing. I ended up doing exactly what you did....disc swap! All the Anchor Bay limiteds etc are pretty cheap for the most part. Hard to believe now what they were selling for on eBay at one point.

Just checked mine and it did have the "O" and plays. Thanks for the heads up

really? I knew about that, but my first batch copy actually was playable. Got a second disc just in case problems would occur later on down the line.

The Opera freezing didn't occur until you hit a certain chapter at the second layer; check further into the movie.

hmmm, maybe this is just an excuse for me to watch the movie again; the first time, I had no probs with the supposed defective disc.

My original copy played fine when I bought it new upon release, but after a couple more weeks and people started mentioning it was defective, I tried my copy again and it had already gone bad. I'm pretty sure all the original pressing went kaput even if you were lucky to have it play once when you first bought it. As Disc-Flipper mentions, the freeze comes somewhere at the half-point mark.

Anchor Bay really handled the replacement program perfectly at the time. You didn't even have to send them back the bad disc.

The film would play fine for the first 40-50 minutes; but once you hit that second layer, the disc was completely unplayable.

To second Mr-Sardonicus's point, Anchor Bay handled that recall like champions. A lot of customers didn't get their copies for two-to-three weeks due to the fact Opera was released on 9/11/2001; so for them to quickly send out the fixed discs without needing the original was a class act.
