Newline should be ramping up though on re-releases of JGTH, X and F v J (as well as the Nightmare on... series).
So for clarification sake... is there a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' blu-ray set (1-7) atleast in discussion right now? I originally bought a DVD player for the original NOES box-set (and the thought of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" season sets) so I have to ask...

I know the first film is coming this year on Blu-ray (Halloween) or when the remake launches. At this point, I'd say the remake since I've seen some of Warners TBA lists for Q4 and don't see Nightmare hinted at much. A boxset...not sure. That will likely happen if the F13's sell well (Parts II and III and their own Freddy vs. Jason) though I imagine they will go with individual releases first and than a boxset. Its been a while since Warner has explored the Nightmare series so I imagine they may start up soon to tie-in to the remake.

So the summarize - ANOES 1 is guaranteed to hit Blu-ray before May 2010 (maybe a DigiBook?), the sequels likely (at least the first few), boxset much later. If you want them, go buy Freddy vs. Jason in October on Blu-ray. That will show Warner the interest in the series.

NOES should come out this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary but it will more likely come out next year to tie in the remake. We are in such need for a new box set. The old one is 10 years old!

Agreed. I'd love to have a new Blu box of the NOES series, even though the only ones worth watching are 1, 3 and 4.

Really? It hasn't been that long since the last release....
I can see them doing a blu-ray but a whole new release so soon?
They released the Infinifilm Edition in 2006....

I know, but I'll probably just wait it out for a US release. I bought Freddy vs. Jason from Canada and just weeks later a US release was announced.

Who else was annoyed by the "fan" on the Part V featurette and commentary? He is flat out annoying and is saying things as if he was part of the making of the movie. Incredibly irritating, but that's just me.

Still waiting for my review copies for both of these titles. Hopefully they come today or tomorrow so I can enjoy them over the long weekend. If they come, as always, I'll post some pictures.

I had totally forgotten about these since I could have swore these were announced for October (ya know, Halloween time) so I got my request in late. However, it looks like no one has these so I'm not left out of the fun.

Still bummed they stopped the Blu-ray films though

How were the sales for the first 3 Blu-ray editions?

It actually does not matter since the decision not to continue with 4-6 (or however they would have done it) was made weeks before 2 & 3 were even available in retail! Really stupid decision.

So.. the Friday the 13th BDs are just dead in the water? First 3 and that's it? Done deal?

That's really lame.

So Paramount is currently done with the Blu-Ray Friday the 13th releases, and yet the 10th anniversary edition of South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is a Blu-Ray exclusive? I really don't understand Paramount at all.

Eh, I don't think the 10th anniversy of LBU is that great anyway. There's an unbelievable wealth of deleted material and I don't think any of that's being included.

That is unfortunate news on the lack of future Blu-rays. I probably would have bought them all, but I have zero interest in triple-dipping on any DVDs at this point.

For 2009, yes. 2010 is a whole new year and they may release them when the sequel to the remake comes out (June?). We all know the series essentially craps out after Part IV, so holding the last good one back is not a bad idea. Look at how MGM essentially stopped the Bond franchise on Blu-ray.

The SE of South Park is not all that great either. It's just a Commentary track, right?

I sold my Crystal Lake boxset when the BDs were announced so I'm a but bummed to. I have been collecting the new DVDs, but as soon as the rest of the BDs get announced I'll sell those off as well. I did make a copy of the Bonus Disc though as many of those features (deleted scenes mainly) were not carried over to the new Discs. I have a feeling we may see it it though in a F13 Boxset next October.

Matter of opinion. Parts 4-6 are my favorites, and I really want them all on Blu-ray. I'd probably re-buy all the Paramount 8 if they became availabe on BD.

Sadly, it's gone OOP. Great transfer, though, and the lossless sound is very godo.
