They liked to be called "Dwarves" and not "Dwarfs". Disney should alter the release to change the name and release Song of the South as well.

I don't know if it would do OG Star Wars numbers...but it would be huge with a ton of press.

I think the change has to do with the change in regimes. Eisner was always about the quick buck(and around for early DVD). I'd like to give credit to Igor, but who knows how much actually comes from John Lasseter and Steve Jobs though, both of whom are the polar opposite of Eisner.

Just move to the south. I have seen numerous copies at the flea market. Picked one up myself for $2. Great movie.

As for the topic at hand, I dislike being pushed in any direction especially considering that my wife has spent thousands on Disney crap. So for Disney to due this to their fans is pathetic. Disney does NOT care about their customer base. They are about their $$$ and this move shows this perfectly. And you KNOW the retailers will be pushing this title and telling their customers "Just buy the Blu-Ray because it has the DVD in it also." And most of them are going to buy it.

I think the one you're thinking of is the DVD package, not the Blu-Ray.

I'm confused on the new releases. So if I understand correctly, the blu-ray release on 10/6 will have 3 discs: blu-ray disc for the movie, blu-ray disc for special features, DVD disc for the movie.

Then there's a DVD release on 11/24. Is this also supposed to include a blu-ray disc of the movie? If so, how many discs will this release have? If includes a blu-ray disc of the movie, then I would think this release should have 3 discs: DVD disc for the movie, blu-ray disc for the movie, DVD disc for special features. But how come Amazon.com lists this release as only having 2 discs?

Ok, I think I figured it out. The DVD release on 11/24 has 2 discs (one for the movie, another for special features) and does not include any blu-ray disc. But it seems on 10/6, there will be two different blu-ray releases that each have 3 discs, the only difference being that one of them has the special features on a blu-ray disc and the other has special features on a DVD disc. Can anyone confirm if I got this right? It's very confusing!

This is my understanding as well. The Blue ray set has two blues one for the movie one for the features, and one dvd of the movie. The dvd set has two dvds and 1 blue, with the features disc a dvd instead of a blue ray. So, both three disc sets, the only difference being the format of the bonus features disc.

Here's what's going on with these releases:

On October 6, there will be two releases. Both will include two blu-ray discs and one DVD. The only differences are in packaging, they have slightly different coverart, and one comes in a Blu-ray case and the other comes in a DVD case.

Then, on November 24, comes a two-disc DVD with no Blu-ray, with different coverart than the previous releases.

Keep in mind, the Blu-ray DVD combo includes only the first disc of the DVD, whereas the DVD by itself will be two discs.

I bought a Blu Ray player earlier this year , the image quality is breathtaking I was prepared to be disappointed by the lack of difference between Blu Ray and DVD and I was blown away by the superb picture quality.

My interest in movies is from the late Expressionist world of The Cabinet Of Doctor Caligari and Nosferatu through the early Universal Monsters movies , Walt Disney animation from Mickey Mouse/Silly Symphonies and all the animated full length features Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs onwards, Film Noir , the classic musicals of the 1940's/1950's and onto to the 1970's , all of wich I look forward to seeing brought back to life via the superb modern technology of Blu Ray plus Blu Ray upscales all your old DVD's anyway!
