I was going to get the single disc for my mom for Mother's Day. Of course, it says in stock at Amazon on the listing page, but when you go to checkout, it says "in stock on May 7". I'm a Prime member, so even if I overnight it, it says estimated delivery May 11. ARGH!!!!

Just got done seeing the review for this set on AOTS. Kevin calls it the "Criteri-Yawn Collection".
i saw that last night too and i don't think he said it like that. he in fact praised Criterion and knew they are known for an abundance of extras.

I know he praised the company, It's just that his pronounciation of "Criterion" was what busted me up......Or unless that's how it's always been pronounced as?

yeah but it doesnt matter to me because it was worth every penny paid and plus I had more than enough money for it..lol Also 3 dollars off wouldn't have done much good it would have basicly just been like taking off the 3 dollars for the tax so it would have made it 24 either way.

im guessing you can place that blame on criterion, as their new, more eco-friendly paper packaging is not only biodegradable, it degrades just sitting on your shelf too.

I don't understand these company executives making packaging more eco-friendly. If you are going to do that, then why even include a slipcover in the first place? Same thing goes with those flimsy-as-shit, less-plastic packages they are using now. Do they even realize that when I get a package like that, I immediately remove the cover art and disc, throw it away, and put it in a sturdy case? I have never thrown away a case before; if anything, I imagine the transition had produced more waste than ever before as far as DVD packaging is concerned.

I got mine through Columbiahouse but if you are not a member there Deepdiscount has the 2-disk Criterion for $19.99 with free shipping.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09

Sorry if this has been asked. Is there a difference in the transfer/mastering between the 1 disc and 2 disc criterion sd dvds? Is Disc 1 of the Criterion the same as the 1 disc dvd?

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09

Good question. Not sure if the transfers are the same but the Criterion has a commentary that the single disc doesn't. So not the same disc.

Just got through watching the documentary. The best I've seen for a high profile film in years.

Thanks for the reply. I already own the Criterion, haven't opened it but was just wondering. I figured the disc would be different (menus, audio options, disc art etc), but still wondering about the transfer.

Can't wait to check out the extras, actually can't wait to check out the feature too. I haven't seen it yet. Go ahead, flame on.

I agree, can't stand the eco friendly crap. What will they think of next, pretty soon the discs themselves will be biodegradable and sped up by the laser will dissolve after 3 viewings.

Are the special features on the 2 disc and blu-ray the same or are there any exclusive features?

Got mine from Wherehouse sans slipcover. A little bit upset about that.

I was in Best Buy earlier and noticed they had the 2-disc set for $14.99. It's also that price on their website.

FYI
