I'm in for the 2-disc DVD.

In addition to its single-disc packaging, "Button" will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in two-disc Criterion Edition sets featuring more than three hours of special features. A documentary on the second disc follows the creative development of the literary adaptation and its many production challenges, including the elaborate, Oscar-winning visual effects.
Rather unexpected news, assuming it turns out to be true.

Well, the piece also says The Reader doesn't have a set release date, yet it comes out on April 14.

Not every film that comes out on the Criterion label is some earth-shattering, life-changing event, you know.

Hey gang, DVDActive has posted the artwork for the Criterion edition. I'd link it, but I don't have enough posts. I don't know, I wasn't a big fan of the flick at all and I definitely don't think it deserves the Criterion treatment, but what the shit do I know.

Thread title should be updated. The fact that it's getting a Criterion release is pretty big news, not to mention totally unexpected.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09

So will the single disc version be a barebones studio release, and not a Criterion? That's weird.

Re: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 5/5/09

Fincher's releases are usually pretty loaded. The cover art is a little weak though.

Is the first time this has happened simultaneously, although there have been other similar cases like Dazed and Confused, Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Rock, Armageddon, Young Mr. Lincoln, and the upcoming Zabrieske Point.
