Most successful tv show to be shunned on DVD?
It looks to me like it would be One Day At A Time. According to Wikipedia it was ranked in the top twenty for eight out of nine seasons . So far season one has been released but that was 2 yrs ago with no announcement of any more seasons. At least All In the Family had 6 seasons released. I won't know what kind of ratings Leave It to Beaver or Green Acres had but they are far from having complete releases.

Re: Most successful tv show to be shunned on DVD?
Marcus Welby MD is the only drama series to be #1 for a whole season without a DVD release.
60 Minutes, Who Wants to be a Millionaire were top rated shows but they aren't really dvd friendly. |

I would also like to see 'The Wonder Years' set come out.i would buy for the right price.
Right now you can get a bootleg set for around $50,but thats way too much.. Unless you are like the #1 fan of this show.. |

Wonder Years.
They could name their price. I would gladly pay for it. |

Re: Most successful tv show to be shunned on DVD?
Although there have been some releases, The Beverly Hillbillies. One of the highest rated, most watched shows in television history with a very succesful 10 year run. By the third episode it was #1 rated show and stayed in the #1 spot for three years running. According to imdb the eight episodes following JFK assassination are the eight highest rated 30min. programs in tv history.

The Wonder Years
As much as I actually would want Family Matters on DVD, it's not the most popular show not on DVD. The show's ratings went downhill after a while so even though it had great ratings it's first 3-4 seasons, it's last few had bad ratings |
Re: Most successful tv show to be shunned on DVD?
The Wonder Years, last I saw, was the most wanted unreleased series on TVShowsonDVD.com's poll, followed by Batman. Those two, of course, require much red tape to be cut before they'll ever see the light of day. I for one am hopeful that, in this economy, eventually the involved parties will decide part of something is better than all of nothing and reach an agreement to finally put these on shelves.

thirtysomething
Perhaps if the new TNT drama, Trust Me, stays on a while, someone will get the bright idea that thirtysomething also had two ad guys in the lead and release it. I know, I know... wishful thinking. |
