Is the first version of the Devil's Advocate on DVD rare? I remember something about it being recalled due to the statues and then edited versions of the DVD were released. I have the first version released and it has a red band on the back that says something about the statues not being connected in any way to the sculptor Frederick Hart or the Washington National Cathedral.

It used to go for some nice $, but now interest is gone. It is one of the more interesting recalled DVDs, though. They actually went back and altered the image after the artist threatened to sue, as that warning on the back was not enough satisfy his estate. The warning was removed and this swirly nonsense was inserted into the scene.

It's a French film from the 1960's. When New Yorker folded, I purchased all of their titles that interested me. Most of them now fetch high Amazon prices, but even I was surprised at how much someone payed for this one. When I looked it up on Amazon, there was only one sealed copy for sale, and someone was asking $299.99 for it. I figured $162.98 was a relative bargain. I probably should have asked for more! I'm just going to Netflix all of them, and sell the sealed New Yorker DVDs.

I finally found the thread started by NCYankee listing the "regular" dvds that are now OOP and selling for high prices.
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/37...-valuable.html
However, that thread hasn't been updated since 2005 and I think I'll like to start a thread and update the list of DVDs using Amazon Marketplace as the guide.

The original dvd releases of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II. The first one has the cool MST3K style commentary that the blu-ray doesn't have. That's why I won't get the blu-ray.
The Beastmaster complete series set - the company lost the rights but a few sets managed to get into a few Best Buy stores.
The platinum dvds of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. They have a few documentaries and features that the blu-rays don't have.
The original releases of the all 3 Ninja Turtles movies. They used the movie poster for the cases instead of the newer, obviously photoshopped covers the new releases have.
The Star Trek Motion Picture Collection - has all 10 of the Star Trek movies and has great features that the blu-ray collection doesn't have. Which is a shame as I really love the movies and would love to have them on blu-ray
The Highlander Director's Cut - only because it is the very first dvd that I ever bought. April 4th, 2000.
Friendship's Field - because it took me forever to find a copy of the dvd with the cover that the VHS had and because I'm a big fan of Kate Maberly.
Ducktales The Movie - a Disney Movie club exclusive so you can't really find it anywhere
He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe season sets - really expensive to replace and sometimes hard to find.

Just because it has the grey spine does not necessarily mean it is the recalled version. My copy has the grey spine, but the excised featurette is not selectable from the disc menu.

Booger. I really want to watch Silent Night, Deadly Night right now, but I see that my unopened copy is going for almost $50 on Amazon. Decisions, decisions.

Sell it. It's Christmas time, so the price will probably hold up, after Christmas maybe not. Or, what I do when I am in such a situation is I put it for sale for what I would want for it, despite the lowest price.

I recently moved from an apartment into a rental house (with a full theater room!) that allowed me to pull my [many] boxes of DVD's out of storage. Found the following, which I currently have up on eBay:
Exit to Eden
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover
Fright Night Part 2 (still factory-sealed)
Blind Date (the Joseph Bottoms/Kirstie Alley thriller, not the Kim Basinger comedy)
I figure I might jump into BD with the proceeds.
Two years ago, I unloaded my Criterion Collection copy of The Killer on eBay for $180.

I'm really kicking myself. I had assumed my copy of The Swimmer was open, so I listed it as such and sold it for $75.00, only to discover it was actually sealed. If I refunded the purchaser, I'd be out Amazon's $13 commission, and the sealed copies were all around the same price range, so I'm just going to honor the original sale. I don't know why I didn't take two seconds to check if the disc was unopened or not.
EDIT: Although I confirmed shipment already, I haven't requested disbursement. Can I still cancel the order somehow?

No you wouldn't. When you refund a purchase, Amazon does not keep its commission (unless you do a partial refund, then Amazon will keep partial commission).
You can't officially "cancel" the order anymore, but you can still refund the buyer and tell him you're canceling the order. He might get pissed tho.

Yeah, SotS was never released by Disney on dvd, in any region - if you have a copy, it's just a bootleg dvd-burn of the vhs.

I had know idea it was out of print, but I was clearing some room on my DVD shelves looking to get rid of stuff. I didn't even know that I still had Almost Famous - Bootleg cut on DVD. I put it on ebay with a $1 opening bid & it sold for $49 a couple of days ago. I was shocked.

I Work for BVHE (Buena Vista Home Entertainment) and last year we were all given DVD Region 2 copies of Song of the South with the intent that Robert Iger was going to allow Disney to release the Film in European countries and surround countries to test the waters to see if there is still Bad Blood with the film. From what I understand there are Groups who are intent to keep the film behind closed doors.
My DVD Copy has Menus, A Bonus Clip of Zip de da do da sung by uncle Remus
and some artwork stills. plus it had some coming attractions for Up! and Snow White
