That Homocide set is valuable? I have an unopened copy which I was just thinking I'll never get around to watching.

The Homicide set goes for around $300, give or take - a little more if unopened.

You might get lucky and find a copy at a Costco for around $140 though - but I wouldn't bet on it.

Re: Anyone Care to List Their Valuable OOP Dvds?

Why are people listing DVDs that sell currently for below MSRP on Amazon? The question is valuable OOP DVDs. Not ones worth $25.

Noticed last night when checking around Amazon for a complete Transformers Generation 1 Box Set that the 25th Anniversary Edition of Transformers The Movie was going for $32 and up.

The Land of the Lost Rhino sets are pretty hot right now. I guess until the upcoming Universal rerelease...

I had two copies of Wuthering Heights (1939). I sold one for $105 about 7 years ago. Now it's being listed for $200.

Not for too long, there is a complete series being re-released in May, it's up for pre-order on Amazon for about 52 bucks.

It looked like a cool set but I was surprised there are still copies sitting on the shelf and you can still buy it at bestbuy.com.

I overestimated the demand on that one but the set looks cool to me.
I picked up that set and the Clerks II set thinking the same thing. The boxes look nice on my dvd shelf anyway.

BTW I picked up a copy of Pumping Irion II for a dollar at a pawn shop. Sold it for over $100 on eBay.

I own Robocop criterion, fantasia box, Toy Box, Dutch (picked it up last year at a AB B1G1 sale blind buy -- but for $33, I might just part with it!), ...

Also picked up Mischief and License to Drive in a AB 3-pack for around 6 bucks. Sold each for $20 despite the fact that a combo disc of the two was released.

i concur.

but i (as well as im guessing some others) am not complaining. there are a lot of original releases i collect because of cover art, packaging, overall collectability, and because of the low price

Re: Anyone Care to List Their Valuable OOP Dvds?

After reading some of the other replies, I'm pleasantly surprised by how 'valuable' some of my dvds are. But who cares? I'll never sell them.

- Lumiere Brothers
- Brothers Quay Collection
- Homicide complete series box (bought 2 in a ddd b1g1 sale for $100 total a few years ago... would still be worth it at $300)
- Ewok double feature
- Clone wars vol. 2 (can't believe this is worth anything)
- 1984
- Wizard of oz (3 disc set from 2005)
- Dead Ringers Criterion
- silence of the Lambs Criterion (everyone else is listing it, but is it really valuable?)
- Tool Salival
- Old Boy tin

Some things I'm wondering about:
- Twin Peaks pilot import (catalyst logic)
- Eraserhead (big oversized for no good reason, limited edition, box set)
- Also, I've got a bunch of original DVDs (probably all bought in 1998) that are surely out of print, but have been replaced by newer versions, probably better ones. Are any of these collectors items (considering they might be rare and coming out right when dvd's arrived and weren't popular)? (titles like: david bowie's ziggy stardust movie, dr. strangelove (with a cover with the guy riding the bomb, which I haven't seen elsewhere), the doors, 2001, Willy Wonka, Pee Wee's big adventure, scarface)

I was surprised to see what Cool World can fetch these days. The cheapest price on Half.com is $15 and change for one in Good condition; a sealed copy lists at $72! DVD Empire has only one new & used listing for $49.99. I picked up my copy entirely on a whim not too terribly long ago from Walmart's $5 bin.

I saw Cool World in a Wal-Mart bin a couple of months ago. I had no idea it was worth anything.

Don't you want to give it to me for $5?
