Re: Hellraiser Lamentation Box Set (US release) April 21

I literally just bought the uk box a couple of weeks ago. I'm assuming that the new US box will include the new releases of 1 and 2, so the uk box won't be completely worthless.

Man.

I already own the 20th Anniversary edition of Hellraiser. Already have the OOP Paramount III.

And bit on the 20th Anniversary Edition of 2 tonight at Best Buy for $7.50.

But, I love Hellraiser so I'll probably still pick this up.

Videoeta and Amazon are both listing it as a three-disc set, so it's either going to be one disc for 1-3 or else just 1 and 2 with a bonus disc.

Well, that's kind of disappointing, it looks like it's a similar strategy to their Halloween set, release stuff they already released with some extra goodie. BTW, thanks for finding that, I was all set to sell my Hellraiser 3 since it's OOP.

Already own the tin so it seems like if I buy anything, it'll be the blu-ray only.

Thank god. The R2 is still the better of the two boxes.

Since I didn't get either AB Hellraiser SE yet I might get this, depending on how much it is. It'd better be cheaper than the Halloween set since you're getting so much less.

They'll probably charge an arm and a leg because of that BD.

Does Anchor Bay seriously hate its American customers that much that they gotta go and pull the same crap they did with Halloween?

They didn't do that for the Halloween box. That was 50 for 5 standard-def discs and 1 BD.

I'd prefer to see it under $40. If first-week prices at Best Buy are about $35 then I'll bite.

No, they are heavily into deceiving their consumers here in the US.

Well prior to last night I had my mind made up and was going to get the uk version. After some shopping around, I lucked out and found The OOP Hellraiser III disc at a used store.

Why must Anchor Bay suck so much ass these days? They used to be a solid company. Now it's pointless double dip after pointless double dip. And as much as I hate double dips at least there are other companies that do them well.

Re: Hellraiser Lamentation Box Set (US release) April 21

I'm still buying this, but I'll be ditching the blu-ray, and designing some kind of matching custom cover so I can put HR3 in there. Blu-ray??? Fuck blu-ray. Imean, put out 2 sets if you want, AB; but make one DVD, the other Blu-ray. I hate being forced to buy something I don't need to get something that I do want.

Re: Hellraiser Lamentation Box Set (US release) April 21

Well, I have the R2 box and the 2 recent AB rereleases, so I dunno about this. If the construction is as crappy as the UK box, I'll skip it. This isn't a movie I'd imagine would blow me away on BD anyway.

In their defense, these supposed upgrades haven't included new features, so completists who already have these aren't forced to repurchase, and I believe Anchor Bay is losing the licenses to the Halloween films, The Evil Dead films, and perhaps these -- as much as double dips can suck I can't blame what is still a relatively small DVD company from milking their big-name titles one last time before they lose their rights. Money from these sets might sustain Anchor Bay for quite awhile.

If Anchor Bay Starz is losing the rights to the Halloween and Evil Dead movies (and a whole lot more, as seen in mcarver's thread) then they're pretty much dead as far as the "horror" specialist company they once were.
