I'll be picking up this and Black Freighter on blu-ray for sure... I'm pretty much going to be a Watchmen whore the next few weeks - got all the movie tie in books on order and will be sure to pick up a few action figures too.

It is, but I was pretty surprised how well the animation worked. The voice acting was the iffy part, it's one actor, which is okay for the male parts, not so great for the female ones.

+1, my cousin and I were discussing how much that pulls you out of what could have been a cool idea. Warner should have put a little more effort in to make it right, but the idea as it is, I feel is pretty cool.

I'll be getting this on DVD and Blu-ray. Not sure if I'm gonna want to watch the Prison Break Scene though...will have to really mull that one over.
I've already pre-ordered all the action figures. A lot of my money is going to be going into this movie, lol.

Anytime they give Movie Money with a DVD I'd probably get anyway, I'm down. I figure the DVD will be like 16-18 bucks and the Blu-ray around 25 bucks. Add in $7.50 per thing, and that saves a friend and me some money when it comes time to see the movie.

This whole thing is kind of cool, and I'm impressed WB spent the effort to animate the whole thing, but I can't imagine actually watching the whole thing more than once.

I think the reason this won't be an extra is because its way to long, its over 4 hours, and would take up 2 bonus discs. I could see it being in the Watchmen Director's Cut DVD, but that would be a 4-5 disc set (2 for the movie, 2 for Motion Comics)

Well perhaps it'll just be an extra on the Blu-Ray, then, to save disc media. We know Warner isn't opposed to leaving bonus features of the standard release over the Blu-Ray (see The Dark Knight or Being There).

Eh, my interest in the film dropped the more I heard details about it, but I did like the motion comic. This should be $15 or so on release week and since I planned on buying it on ITunes (for $20) anyway, at least now I can see the film and not feel too horrible if it turns out to be shit.

The movie was not "done" by Fox and Warner is the sole U.S. distributor -- the settlement gave Fox a cash payment and gross points on the movie and all spinoffs/sequels (including the motion comic and the Black Freighter DVDs), but WB kept all distribution rights.

Yup, I saw some of this the other day, I wanted to like it, the visuals looked fine, it had background and effects noises, but the single narrator voice, especially when doing female parts, threw me off. I couldn't get into it. Guess I'll just pull out the ol' Absolute Watchmen and read it again next month to get warmed up.

It won't be an extra, since it's 4 HOURS LONG. WB is going to maximize profits by selling it separately to all the Watchmen fanboys, who are going to suck up as much Watchmen merch as they can, as before the movie, there really hasn't been a flood of tie-in products. There was the RPG game when the issues originally came out...maybe a shirt or two.

Fox has squat to do with the movie.

It would be appreciated if a mod could edit the thread title to include the Black Freighter and its date, so we can avoid an unnecessary second thread..
