Re: Watchmen Motion Comic ---> 3/3/09

I'm surprised they're releasing it after the movie, but I guess it is the kind of thing that a lot of people would say "How is this tied to Watchmen" if they watched it before.

Re: Watchmen Motion Comic ---> 3/3/09

Is the Black Frieghter stuff actually animated by some animation studio, or is it more like the Watchmen animated comic panels?

Re: Watchmen Motion Comic ---> 3/3/09

So it seems that the Digital Copies of the Motion Comic and The Black Freighter are exclusive to Blu-Ray...

bummer.

Oh well, I'll probably pick them both up anyway.

I may pick this up, if only for the $7.50 to see Watchmen.
You'd pay $25 to get $7.50 free?

I meant I liked what I saw of the motion comic (the male narrator doing female voices not withstanding), and getting the free ticket for Watchmen would be enough for me to buy it and have it on a disc media instead of just downloading them.

I know the Blu-ray Version of The Motion Comic has a slipcover, but has anyone seen the DVD Version with a slipcover?

For anyone who has seen this, Is this a good blind buy for a comic fan? Never read the Watchman comic and haven't seen the movie yet.

I tried looking for this on Netflix and it doesn't appear to be available.

I'd try and watch a clip or trailer to see if you like the style or not, but I think it's well worth picking up and if you're a comic fan, I see no reason why you wouldn't like it.

I just know both of these will be included with some uber-extended edition of the movie at some point.

I strongly disagree. I could be wrong, but I really I don't think it will be included with the ultimate DVD release because on its own it has a run time of something like 5 hours and I just don't see the point to release it on the same disc(s) as the movie and special features. Again, I could be wrong, but I think this release will stand-alone.

I could see them releasing a HUGE box that includes a 2-3 disc Watchmen DVD, the 2-Disc comic, the Animated Freighter disc and maybe a copy of the Graphic Novel and a replica comedian button with blood stain for $150 at Best Buy

Don't forget a Warhol print (albeit much smaller!) and a replica of the Tijuana Bible. The old Minutemen photographs from the movie would be AWESOME as well.

I'd drop some money down for that.

Sounds great. But the bastards will put something different in the blu box, making me buy both.

Re: Watchmen Motion Comic ---> 3/3/09

is the "Black Freighter" and "Under the Hood" story told in full in the novel/motion comic, meaning if i saw it before the BF release it would be slightly ruined?

The Under the Hood stuff isn't, I'm not sure about the Black Freighter.
