with the success of the Starrcade DVD, i could see WWE release more WCW themed DVDs. WWE knows they can make money off WCW so i don't think they will stop.

How will that work?
1987-1992 1993-1998 1999-2004 2005-2009? I ask cause I got 1987-2000 on Tag Classics and the original 2001 DVD so I will just need to pick up the last volume? Volume 1: 1987 - 1991 Volume 2: 1992 - 1996 Volume 3: 1997 - 2001 Volume 4: 2002 - 2006 So 2007, 2008 and likely 2009 (if released during Christmas this year) will be housed differently like in slip sleeves or possibly stored under the lid (like how WM21 was under the lid in the WM Anthology) Curious to see how they package this one. I just hope they don't cheap out like with the Summerslam Anthology and use cardboard sleeves to store the discs. I'm surprised WWE didn't take advantage of 2006 being the 20th and releasing the complete set during the Christmas rush but i guess they didn't want to release the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series sets 3 months apart. |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
I didn't know the nWo DVD is out of print. I love that DVD, the documentary section is great even if the facts are fuzzy at best.

Hulk Still Rules, HHH the Game and HHH That Damn Good were OOP within a couple of months or so after their release. |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
I picked up the nWo DVD April 2002 :)

it came out during the time where WWE had a grace period where they could show the Attitude scratch logo which i think was around May-Aug 2002. After Sept. all references to WWF had to be blurred and bleeped out.

Not trying to sound rude, but how can they put the 2009 Survivor Series in the set, if the Anthology will be released before the Pay Per View is even broadcast live on TV?
The other possibility, although unlikely, is that there will be a mail in voucher (online code?) in the set that you will be able to redeem to have Survivor Series 2009 sent to you upon its release. |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
No release date was stated on the PWI link :( I say it'll be out in November

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
If the WWE does in fact put out another WCW dvd, my guess would be a 3 disc set of the best matches from the Clash Of The Champions. What do you guys think?? Because I can't see it being Super Brawl, or Halloween Havoc, and such since those ppv's were only out from 89 or 91. Yet the Clash Of The Champions has a real significant meaning to it being the first one was televised against Wrestlemania 4. Plus I have around 90% of the Clash Of The Champions already and I have to say they were better than the ppv's were back then.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
that nwo dvd was made in 2002, but it was far from great
the first half of the doc was great, but then they skip over the next 4 years and spend the final half on vince's watered down nwo group then the extras only have a few matches i wish they would do a 3 disk with the FULL nwo story, 3 hour doc that covers everything then the rest could be all the best matches and moments there are so many wcw releases they could do, and they have had years to do it, atleast 3 years and all we got is the starrcade wwe does a great job with ecw, wwe, even macho man is finally getting his long overdue dvd, but keep giving wcw NOTHING besides starrcade dvd, by now there should atleast be 3 or 4 wcw dvds maybe since starrcade is selling so good it can do the same that rise and fall did for ecw, that dvd opened up the floodgates for a few ecw dvds that needed to get out |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
just checked the billboard top selling sports dvd
looks like starrcade is still number 1 in its 3rd week, 3 weeks all number 1 and legends of wrestling collection dvd in its 1st week only came in at 8th so that should put to rest how great wcw dvds would sell, and starrcade is not even the best one they could do for wcw |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
I think the reason why they didn't release a WCW themed DVD before the Starrcade was likely because WWE thought there probably isn't enough money to be made on it and not many true fans.
The sale for the Starrcade DVD so far should change their mind and release more sets. I would love to full ppvs like a Complete Starrcade or Halloween Havoc Anthology, but they probably won't. Instead we'll probably get DVDs that have compilation of Halloween Havoc or Bash at the Beach's best matches, which is fine by me. Looking forward to the Savage DVD and curious to see how the cover will look. |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
If they do make more WCW dvds, at this point they will probably do a "Rise and Fall of WCW" type collection. 3 discs. Disc One 2hr Documentary, Disc Two Matches, Disc Three
matches and memorable moments/promos. I can see Nitro also getting it's own 3 disc dvd set |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
There will be an FYE Exclusive Royal Rumble 2009 DVD release next week. The Pic i saw kinda Funny because is it's Stated in bold letters as a "STEEL BOOK" release but the pic shown is a Typical WWE FYE Exclusive Tin.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
how does the TIN look? does it look plain like the Survivor Series and Summerslam 2008 ones?

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
You have all talked about Superbrawl, Halloween Havoc & Bash At The Beach.
But none of you have talked about THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH! Other than a best of Monday Nitro set, this The G.A.B would probably get released sooner, becuase WWE still dose those PPVs. I think that after the Survivor Series set, they should release a King Of The Ring set, with all of the PPV events, the tournaments that was held before it became a PPV, and the 2006 & 2007 tournaments. |
Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
Correction: 2006 & 2008 tournaments

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume IX
According to Silvervision the extras for No Way Out are:
<i>• Todd Grisham interviews the winner of the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship • Unsanctioned Match Shane McMahon vs. Randy Orton Raw February 16, 2009 </i> Great to see they included the Unsanctioned Fight, the ending was awesome! |
