Australia----March 3, 2009
The Standard disc is barebones except for 2 deleted scenes, Blu-ray is loaded:
Fox Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.99) releases of Australia which stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The Baz Luhrmann directed film will be available to own from the 3rd March. The only extra material on the DVD release will be 2 deleted scenes (What about the drove?, Angry staff serve dinner). The Blu-ray release will include the deleted scenes, along with an Australia: The People, The History, The Location featurette, and additional featurettes (Photography, Production Design, Costume Design, Locations, Cinematography, Sound, Editing, Music, Visual Effects).

Good that it's soon to be released; I've avoided this on its theatrical run, but am keen to see it if for no other reason than I used to live very near one of the key locations...

So the DVD has two deleted scenes and the blu-ray is loaded...
...are they kidding?
This is going people off, more so than when they see the actual movie.

I was all excited for a second as it's release date puts it in time for my b-day. But I think I'll have to hold out for a special edition.
I love Baz's films though, and can't wait to eventually add this one to my collection.

I'm probably in the minority when I say, I actually liked this movie. I thought the WWII stuff was a little to Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor-ish, but the first 2/3rds were really good and a wonderful homage to classic Hollywood filmmaking.
Sucks that we're not getting a better DVD release.

I just sat through this the other day and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. I just wish that the green screen cgi was used a bit less... that looked horrible.

That was my major issue. I didn't see enough of this place called Australia. The ones that were shot on location were absolutely gorgeous but the CG backgrounds bothered the fuck out of me.
