I don't care how late in the year it came out, The Dark Knight is in the top 10.

Re: Billboard 2008 Top DVD Sales
"The 2008 chart year began with last year's Dec. 1 issue and ended with the Nov. 29, 2008, issue, making it one of the rare years when the chart calendar totals 53 weeks." Not sure why so many Dark Knight fans are questioning the validity of this data because that title isn't on it. Take it up with Warner Bros., who didn't release the DVD until 9 December.
For those not in the know, Billboard's dates are not accurate. For instance, the current chart is dated 17 January 2009, and The Dark Knight is listed as having already charted for three weeks. That would put its debut week as 27 December 2008. Do the math from there. Even if the DVD had been released in mid-November, it's very unlikely it would have topped the list.
Since this chart information has sparked some curiosity, though, is anyone in favor of a thread throughout 2009 listing the weekly information?

I think the only reason is so they can have that YEAR END ISSUE in December.
Just like we saw AFI's list of BEST MOVIES OF THE CENTURY come out before the century was over. They just can't wait and want to capitalize on it when they can.

I've seen only No Country for Old Men and Juno. Juno / Knocked Up was part of a phenomenon I watched to experience first hand. Those films, along with the media hype about a "pregnancy pact" at Gloucester High and Bristol Palin's pregnancy will, I think, be one of the defining elements of the popular American zeitgeist for '07-'08, when pop historians look back in a few years.

Saw 21 of them, own 9. There's probably 6-10 more that I'll probably pick up when they get a little cheaper for used copies.
