I've sat through the first hour of this.
It's simply just not as polished as the first two DVDs. Granted, it's not done as someone who has the technical skills as J.M. Kenny; but I think that hurts a lot of it. The pace doesn't feel right and I believe that has more to do with editing than Smith. There was some funny stuff found, but it's a bit few and far between. I'll probably watch the remainder of the discs after I get off work later tonight. |
Thanks for the reminder, in the Netflix queue

Just had the wife pick this up at our Target. She had to ask someone where it was as it was pretty hard to find.

I thought it was pretty good. It did start of slow, but I was really interested while he was talking about his time on the Die Hard 4 set...

no copies at my local best buy - six at my local target. thanks for the reminder that this was released this week.
|
i watched the first disc didnt think it was as funny as the other two and if mews wa there it would have been better.
|
I watched the first 10 minutes or so last night. Hard to watch it with my 14-month old daughter in the room. I can just see her being like baby Jay at the beginning of J&SBSB
|
Thanks for the reminder. Picked it up at Target at lunch. Couldn't find it at Best Buy (even though online they said they had stock) and nobody was around to help me.l

Saw a few last night at the FYE in Blasdell, NY for $14.99. I think I'm going to wait until The Sale (if not beyond that) as I already have a rather large unwatched pile.
|
Got it at FYE last night for $13.49 (that's with member discount). Watched the first disc yesterday and the rest today. The only thing - I wish all 7 hours were included. :)

I have noticed here in the UK Kevin Smith films seem quite hard to come by. Until the recent rerelease of Dogma, you couldn't find it for love nor money in the stores, and has been this way for quite a few years as it has been on my 'Must buy' list since I started buying Dvd's
Chasing Amy. Not available. Mallrats. Also not available. However, Jay & Silent Bob seems quite common, and as for Clerks... It's been released, rereleased as a 3 disc Collector's set, and then again as a Steelbook. The 3 disc 'Clerks X' seems to be the more common variation and has even been sold off cheaply in plenty of store sales (Ie, 3 for £20 etc) I am surprised that by now they haven't released an ultimate Kevin Smith box set featuring all his works - I think many people would buy it simply for Chasing Amy and Dogma |
In R1, Mallrats is Universal and the others are Miramax(IIRC), making a giant box set very unlikely. Not sure who owns the rights over there.

Watched the first disc last night and the first 30 minutes were a drag. Boooring. If you've ever listened to Smodcast you will have already heard everything he has to say(20 minutes spent talking about his dogs). He also told the shorter version on Craig Ferguson a few months back.
You could essentially skip ahead to Mewes and Clerks II discussion if it is labeled as such in the scene selections. Once that kicked in it was solid to the end of the disc. I'm looking forward to getting back to disc 2. |
Just finished watching this, and while the Die Hard and Anal stories were kinda funny, I was disappointed that he didn't really answer very many questions. Only a couple questions where the stories ran on for ever and ever. The first one was far better.
|
there is also about an hour and 15 min worth of deleted scenes on disc 2. the dog story was really funny (and was almsot the first hour really). Also found the die hard story amusing.
|
You can actually find Chasing Amy at like BestBuy for like ten bucks, hell amazon has it for cheap too..
|
Had a Best Buy GC, butof course they didn't have it in stock. Couldn't be bother to look elsewhere so just ordered it online via BB site and should get it this week.
|
I liked a lot of the deleted scenes a lot better then the bulk of the actual film. I just enjoy Smith talking about a variety of different topics and answering more questions rather then just hear long, long stories about a specific thing. For instance, the comments about Carrie Fisher or Paris Hilton are interesting.

I couldnt disagree more. I think that this was by far the most polished. I think JM Kenny did a damn find job on the first two DVDs, but this one has a whole new flavor to it. It has a whole new feel. Its more of a stand up preformance peice than it is Kev in just doing what he has done two times in the past. The picture is a much better quality than it has been on the first two DVDs and the sound is outstanding. I think Joey Figureroa and Zak Knutson did an outstanding job with the camera angles. The crane arm was brilliant. It adds energy that was missing in the first two DVDs. I think you need that when you have one guy on stage just talking for 5 hours. Overall, i think this is the best of the three DVDs because of the production value. The stories arent the best of the 3, but with the advent of youtube (something that wasnt around for the first DVD) we have a tendency to hear some of the stories in abbriviated states. I think this DVD is the best looking, best sound, and by far... the best produced of the series.

I had the same problem. Every Best Buy in Western NY was out of stock. One employee even told me to visit their competitor, FYE.
|
i went back to best buy again today and they're still out of this DVD. i really don't understand why they wouldn't be stocking this? especially with his new movie coming out Friday.
