Kevin Smith: Sold Out? Try not in stock!

Went to Best Buy here in the LA San Gabriel Valley this morning and they didn't have it! Went to ask the clerk (no pun intended) and she says that all the stores in the surrounding area dont have it either!

Of all places that i thought wouldn't have it, Target did have it. and only 3 copies of it. What gives?

chris_sc77 10-21-08 02:30 PM

You can get it shipped from deepdiscount for less than $16 bucks.
There is also already a thread about this particular title.

MasterofDVD 10-21-08 02:30 PM

My Target only had a very small spot for this release.....not that I expected a huge area to be stocked. There were 2 copies left after I picked mine up. I was shocked that the price was so low. All the previous one have been more expensive but I guess thanks to high def taking over little by little a title like this gets a small price break.

Snowmaker 10-21-08 02:31 PM

I didn't even know he was releasing a 3rd "Evening With".

fumanstan 10-21-08 02:41 PM

I didn't realize today was the release day; I'll try and swing by Target and hope they still have it.

JAYARE 10-21-08 02:58 PM

get it signed for 24.99 http://jayandsilentbob.com/soouthwikesm.html

Michael Corvin 10-21-08 03:07 PM

Got mine in the mail from Wherehouse.com yesterday. Can't beat $9.79.

FuQ 10-21-08 03:22 PM

Netflix sent me my copy yesterday.

LickTheABCs 10-21-08 03:33 PM

Got it from Netflix. Damn Blu-ray is taking up most of my money, lately.

Dvdlovr24 10-21-08 03:48 PM

Just picked up a copy at Target thanks to everyone on here. I had checked Best Buy and Circuit City but they looked at me like I had 4 eyes.

Same. I still haven't watched the 2nd one (or Clerks 2 I got 2 Christmases ago...)

EdTheRipper 10-21-08 04:40 PM

Mine arrived from Amazon early this afternoon.

animatedude 10-21-08 04:52 PM

Nope, just a traditional dvd case with 2 discs in it.

Just picked one up at Target. They had 3 copies. Best Buy had none.

Evil ASh 10-21-08 08:50 PM

OH SHIT!!! I've been waiting for it for so long and forgot that today is the release day!!! 80

MTRodaba2468 10-21-08 09:46 PM

Got it at the FYE I work at for $13.49. :)

*pumps fist*

Rex Power Colt-Robot Man 10-21-08 11:16 PM

Another Target purchase here at 14.99. BB's website was reporting they had none in stock at the 2 stores in my town.

nodeerforamonth 10-21-08 11:52 PM

huh?!??! Had no idea about this at all...

fumanstan 10-21-08 11:53 PM

Went and got mine just now at Target. Looks like they had plenty, with 4 copies at 9:30 PM tonight and there were two "spaces" for it on the new release end cap.

slop101 10-22-08 01:46 AM

I enjoy these much more than the movies he makes.

Matthew Chmiel 10-22-08 02:27 AM

I've sat through the first hour of this.

It's simply just not as polished as the first two DVDs. Granted, it's not done as someone who has the technical skills as J.M. Kenny; but I think that hurts a lot of it. The pace doesn't feel right and I believe that has more to do with editing than Smith.

There was some funny stuff found, but it's a bit few and far between.

I'll probably watch the remainder of the discs after I get off work later tonight.

rexinnih 10-22-08 07:48 AM

Thanks for the reminder, in the Netflix queue

I thought it was pretty good. It did start of slow, but I was really interested while he was talking about his time on the Die Hard 4 set...

Star Wars Guy 10-22-08 12:42 PM

Just had the wife pick this up at our Target. She had to ask someone where it was as it was pretty hard to find.

He wrote a couple of really good on-the-set stories in his book "My Boring Ass Life". It's a terrific read. Plus, it features the awesome "Me and My Shadow", Chronicling Jay's kicking of heroin.

kms_md 10-22-08 09:31 PM

no copies at my local best buy - six at my local target. thanks for the reminder that this was released this week.

JAYARE 10-23-08 12:10 AM

i watched the first disc didnt think it was as funny as the other two and if mews wa there it would have been better.

Snowmaker 10-23-08 07:30 AM

I watched the first 10 minutes or so last night. Hard to watch it with my 14-month old daughter in the room. I can just see her being like baby Jay at the beginning of J&SBSB

boogieman03 10-23-08 02:37 PM

Thanks for the reminder. Picked it up at Target at lunch. Couldn't find it at Best Buy (even though online they said they had stock) and nobody was around to help me.l

Droog 10-23-08 02:50 PM

Saw a few last night at the FYE in Blasdell, NY for $14.99. I think I'm going to wait until The Sale (if not beyond that) as I already have a rather large unwatched pile.

Evil ASh 10-23-08 07:56 PM

Got it at FYE last night for $13.49 (that's with member discount). Watched the first disc yesterday and the rest today. The only thing - I wish all 7 hours were included. :)

Likewise. That's my main pet peeve with these releases...

Heche 10-24-08 02:19 AM

I have noticed here in the UK Kevin Smith films seem quite hard to come by. Until the recent rerelease of Dogma, you couldn't find it for love nor money in the stores, and has been this way for quite a few years as it has been on my 'Must buy' list since I started buying Dvd's

Chasing Amy. Not available. Mallrats. Also not available. However, Jay & Silent Bob seems quite common, and as for Clerks... It's been released, rereleased as a 3 disc Collector's set, and then again as a Steelbook. The 3 disc 'Clerks X' seems to be the more common variation and has even been sold off cheaply in plenty of store sales (Ie, 3 for £20 etc)

I am surprised that by now they haven't released an ultimate Kevin Smith box set featuring all his works - I think many people would buy it simply for Chasing Amy and Dogma

Michael Corvin 10-24-08 07:24 AM

In R1, Mallrats is Universal and the others are Miramax(IIRC), making a giant box set very unlikely. Not sure who owns the rights over there.

DOGMA is Sony, CLERKS II is Weinstein, so with four studios involved, this is even less likely.
