Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

I believe that is bootlegging Dustman, not something DVDTalk likes.

Now back to the topic. Is anyone else disappointed that Legend films is no longer colorizing films? I know they need to stay with the times but I really loved there colorized versions of old PD films and since thay are now in the 3D conversion business I doubt we will see anymore colorized releases from them. I would have loved me a colorized Terror of Tiny Town or Child Bride and of course more John Wayne flicks.

That sucks! I have a few of their titles and their colorization process was pretty impressive and the good thing is that they included the original black & white version too so no harm done.

Are they actually done colorizing? Like, have they said that?

They don't do a ton of new releases every year, and never did....could be nothing has popped up just because they haven't had anything that was right for them.

And if anything is holding them back from new projects, I would blame their shift to blu rays (something about the idea of Mandingo on BR cracks me up) and their trend of repackaging their singles into multi-sets. They seem focused on maximizing the library they have right now as opposed to expanding it.

Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

I always wanted to restore and colorize "Tiny Town" and "Freaks" but never had the opportunity. Historically those films are significant because they were exploition films that probably never should have happened and will certainly never happen again. Nevertheless, they are a unique part of our film heritage and historically, they need to be preserved... but I believe that only via colorization can there be a sufficient subsidy from DVD revenue to do a proper black and white restoration.

I would have bought a copy of Tiny Town for the restored B&W content. I love that movie!

I too was hoping for more John Wayne colorized flicks. Legend did a great job on re-inventing those 1930 Lonestar films, with a restored print and newly recorded soundtrack. From the previous posts Barry made, I was under the impression that they would be releasing more. But I guess that turned out to be incorrect.

Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

hey.i found an interesting fact aboult some like it hot(1959)
"Marilyn Monroe wanted the film to be shot in color (her contract stipulated that all her films were to be in color), but Billy Wilder convinced her to let it be shot in black and white when costume tests revealed that the makeup that Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon wore gave their faces a green tinge."

So today it's o.k. to have most movies have this green tinge.

Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

i found somthing out aboult a doctor who story the mind of evil:
"As of March, 2009, most of the story has been recoloured using the new chroma dot technique with the exception of Episode One. Unfortunately, Episode One does not have any chroma dots, so that episode can not be restored to colour using the process. In addition, the chroma dot process produced less stable results in various portions of several of the restored episodes than initially expected, making for a less than satisfactory colour result. This fact will likely significantly delay any rerelease of the story on DVD for some time.'

Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

baracine
i agree with you on the colourization.i have bewitched seasons 1 and 2 on dvd and i dream of jeannie season 1 on dvd and they looked like they were shot on eastman colour.what i also like aboult it's a wonderful life being colourized is that it looks like a technicolour fil as well as holiday inn earth vs the flying saucers she(1935) 20 million miles to earth and it came from beneath the sea.

i also think fireball xl5 and supercar should look good in colour.
onece i get enough posts i'll post some of my colourized pics.

Re: Colorized films on DVD -- NOT a general discussion on film colorization

I like colorized films. The colorization is not the problem with me. What you can get sometimes maybe so fuzzy it test preferences.

I do not know for sure what boot legging is. they are accosting you of. But Bishops wife was never released by Owners colorized? I sought after it for 15 years. Finally found a tv copy. Some good soul gave me a copy. I understand Ted Turner colorizations are in Warner Vaults.

You have a great collection. I have some I like to watch repeatedly. Now with Computer processing such as Deoldify, Films never colorized could be.
Has anyone seen there Video work. Train station and Train entry?

But Warner does not judge there is money there? I would like "Remember the Night"1940.,Christmas in Connecticut, better Bishop's wife. But mine is really pretty good. It is on DVD but I want to convert to MP4. The software I used did not improve the source?

Have you ever sold Christmas in Connecticut. I see where YouTube claims you can post a full movie without infringement. There is a windows 10 download for FTP (file transfer Protocol) that would allow transfer fast without size limitation of email. Free.

It looks like these post from you are old. There is no way to email you. You may never read this. This site says you do not exist, MR. Dustman. Hope you preserving it so it does get in the waste can.

If monitor reads this, maybe he can reply.

May Colorization ever increase. It only helps. People already own the black and white!
