Scream trilogy
Anyone know if/when the Scream trilogy will be re-released in anamorphic widescreen on DVD? I find it hard to believe that the crappy non-anamorphic versions are all that are available, since these movies were/are really popular.
I just re-watched the original on DVD (which I bought way back when I first got a DVD player in 2000), and had no idea it was non-anamorphic until it actually started. I got a 61' Sony Bravia back in February, and very few of my movies look as crappy as this....
Maybe they'll re-release them for blu-ray and pretty up the standard DVDs as well?

Even though it's non-anamorphic, the first Scream's transfer is still very good. I just recently watched the trilogy again, and was surprised how good the PQ on the first Scream was.

I have the boxset and haven't watched it in a really long time, not since I got my new TV. I had no idea it was non-anamorphic! I realized the other day that my copy of Young Frankenstein (the original release) was non-anamorphic as well. At least that is out on Blu-ray for me to replace it.

I think they broke that policy (see below). If they can release these 5, why not Scream or Armageddon.
Con Air: Unrated Extended Edition
Gone In 60 Seconds Director's Cut
Coyote Ugly: Unrated Extended Cut
Enemy Of The State: Unrated Extended Cut
Crimson Tide: Unrated Extended Cut
Don't get me wrong, I do like these.

Who also happen to have been executive producers for all three films. I would re-buy these on Blu-ray in a heartbeat as long as they ported all the SE material and gave them the decent HD treatment.

Right off the top of my head (so I might miss something):
Extra gore at beginning with Casey's boyfriend (more intestines, longer shot)
Slower zoom on Casey hanging from the tree
Longer shot of Tatum getting crushed in garage door
More stabbings between Billy and Stuart at end
I haven't actually seen the unrated cut, but I have read about it. I think the unrated cut is only about 5 or 6 seconds longer.

Gore of course. More bloodiness for both Drew Barrymore & her boyfriend's deaths for sure. I have the Laserdisc, but haven't had time to watch it since I got it a couple of months back... perhaps by I'll watch around Halloween.

I remember watching the laser-disc uncut version back when I worked in a film library and compared to the VHS version of the film the uncut version runs a whooping 12 seconds longer than the R-rated, so there is VERY little.
Personally I would love to see a release of these films with maybe some more behind-the-scenes extras and possibly even blu-ray.
Maybe all the talk about Scream 4 really can be true and disney is holding off on releasing these films for a possible tie-in...

I have the 4-DVD boxed set that went out of print years ago.
At this point in history, I'd only be interested in buying "Scream" on Blu-ray. It's the only film in the trilogy that I'd bother upgrading to Blu-ray; the other two I don't really care enough about to upgrade. (So, of course, they'll put out a COMPLETE SCREAM TRILOGY on Blu-ray and charge $120 for it.)

Anyone know where to get the R2 German release or the R3 Korean release?
Looks like both versions might be OOP. The German release is uncut, anamorphic and loaded with extras.

I gues Im stuck with this... Oh well.. under $15 (got it 3yrs ago for $14.99 in Frys ) and with bonus disc.. fair enough...

Anamorphic or not... the economical miramax trilogy boxset still rocks with features

To be honest, I think I paid $50 when the box set was first released.
I could not give two shits about the abomination that was Scream 3, but I wanted to own the CE of Scream 2 and get the bonus disc.

I haven't seen any of them in a while, but I think Scream 2 aged better than any of them. I had the box xage posted above, but sold it a while back. I wouldn't mind a trilogy on Blu... for the right price.

I've had that box set since it came out. Still not sure why I bought it since I really think only the first film is worth a shit. I'll probably wait and hope for an uncut BR release since I doubt I'd upgrade my SD version at this point.
