Who bought The New World 'Extented Cut'?

I'm going to buy this DVD~ Is it worth it? Do you like the artwork of the DVD? Did you like the new cut?

Bought it, watched it, loved it.

No features, but the film alone is well worth the price.

Wow, I somehow missed the news that this was finally being released. I liked the first version a lot, but I did find it a bit heavy on the romance angle at times. I'd love to know how this new version feels overall in comparison to the old one.

The 'romance angle' is the whole point of the film. The extended version expands on that as expected.

I picked it up, but have not seen the theatrical cut even yet. Total blind buy. Hope to have time to watch this weekend.

I bought it... The extended cut is as perfect movie as the Theatrical Cut. This cut is basically the same as the cuts of Dark City or Blade Runner, in which all versions are great.

I'm not really sure yet which one I would choose to watch the next times. The Extended Cut just has more great stuff, which would be a shame to not watch.

Extended Cut positives: nudity of Q'orianka Kilcher, more touching interactions between Smith and the head warrior dude (not Wes Studi, but the younger one)
Extended Cut negatives: Chapter Timecards that segment the film into distinct chapters (some people may like it though. I guess I prefer the movie without them)

Theatrical Cut: A+
Extended Cut: A+

^I just ordered this as well. Definitely looking forward to this. (and Kilcher's nudity.)
Is it true that the digital copy (which is something I'd never watch) is ACTUALLY the never released on DVD 150 Minute cut of the film?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't she jailbait when she made the movie in 2005?

Pedos...

Are you sure that is her? I think it's just some random native girls.

And I agree the chapter timecards are a negative.

Of course, I can't confirm whether it is the Academy cut or not, but I can now confirm -- through some finagling with cinemanow.com and a wonky download process -- that the runtime on the digital file is 2:30:06, the same as the first cut that was trimmed. It seems largely similar to that of the original theatrical cut, containing little if any of the "new" material in the Extended Cut.

EDIT: An amendment has been made to the review.

I watched the first hour of the extended cut last night. The picture quality is an improvement over the previous DVD. The new scenes add even more to an excellent film.

Too bad, WB did not release a Blu-ray version. If the DVD sells well, they might release one next year.

I have no use for the digital copy code, but I can not even give it away because you have to insert the DVD into your computer to use the code.

Additionally, I am sure there are other good books and resources on John Smith, but I thought this book was well written and added to my understanding and enjoyment of the movie:
