They had the Centennial Collection editions of "Sunset Boulevard", "Roman Holiday" and I believe the above version of "Chinatown". I bought the first two.

Price? $3

There $4 now and the " #7 The Odd Couple" was another one offered

If they didn't, we only have Paramount to blame. I've bought all of them and they are excellent editions but most of them are triple dips within the span of a only a few years. In the last two years, I've owned three different versions of most of the Audrey Hepburn titles. Most people have more sense/less money than I do so I'm not suprised that they might not sell so well. I understand they are popular films but why they didn't try to offer something new is beyond me. Surely Paramount has more than a mere dozen truly classic films in their archives...

I'm sure many collectors, myself included, may have held off on some/all of these titles because we were waiting for them to be announced on Blu. From the beginning, Paramount should have made this an exclusive line for classic BD titles. I'm sure there aren't too many people who are fans of Sunset Blvd., Breakfast at Tiffany's or Chinatown that don't already on it on DVD.

So is this collection already done? I don't understand why they would start it and stop so soon. I'm disappointed about the slipcovers being eliminated also.....just looked classy for the classic films. So is there any hope for a Wings or African Queen release?

:)

They might have had other titles, but I'm not very familiar with the Centennial Collection.

Well, I was going to wait for the Blu, but at that price (or at the $4 the next poster mentioned), I'll double dip on Chinatown.

I picked up The Odd Couple for $4 at Wally World. Didn't see any of the others. YMMV, as usual.

Well DVDAF now lists Chinatown as OOP. Must be the end of this collection. Seems it ended before it really even started.

According to Amazon, as well: "This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer." Yet, they still have at least "Sunset Boulevard" available. Did they make fewer pressings of "Chinatown" in this collection than the other titles, anticipating their dwindling interest in continuing the line?

It seems that way. People were reporting it as OOP very soon after the release date. They may have done only one pressing, over and out.

Maybe it sold poorly because they decided to cheap out on the slipcover. I'm normally not a slipcover nazi, but the rest of them had it, what was the deal?

I say they want to re-release it with a documentary on the recent Roman Polanski hearings, but waiting until the final verdict.....

The Paramount Centennial Collection is an awesome collection of movie classics. At this moment I own Sunset Boulevard, Roman Holiday, The Odd Couple, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the Man who shot Liberty Valance. Because Chinatown is OOP I have set myself to buy this it now before it is too late. I ordered it today and paid less than $15. The next buy will be El Dorado, which is soon to be OOP as well.

Does anyone know where the collection is at? Has it been halted? They were on a roll last year and everything just stopped. I still need to get the Chinatown ala #10.

I'm sure it's gone the way of every other catalog DVD collection or series: kaput. Chinatown is supposed to be getting a Blu-ray release this year.
