Looks like about an hour and a half of new supplemental material on Sunset Blvd, though it appears the "The Making of Sunset Boulevard" featurette from the previous disc is missing. I'm sure it has been rendered redundant by the newer material however. I'm curious to see how much improvement has been made in the transfer department - the 2002 edition was a real beauty.

Really just a promo for the DVDs.

Sunset Blvd was restored for the current DVD release. Scanned onto a computer and then converted back to film. They showed the restored film at MOMA prior to the DVD release. I doubt it will look any better in another SD release. Double dip only if you can't live without the extras.
I guess I should pay closer attention to the extras on my DVDs considering I already own Sunset Blvd. I'll probably wait for a review on the new bonus materials/transfer before commiting to buying this.

I hope you're right about that, but that "Making Of" featurette on the current DVD is actually very good, especially the clips from a recent interview with Nancy Olsen. I'd hate to be without it, so I might have to keep the present DVD as well.

It's possible, however, that the material in the featurette on the previous disc was re-edited and included here. Perhaps that one called "The Beginning" is it, but with part of it edited into another featurette.

Any info on if they'd improve the video quality for this new version (not that the previous edition had a bad transfer or anything)?

I keep thinking "no.... no .... no" but I'm sure the first time there's one of our favorite semi-annual sales, I'll be saying "yes ... yes .... yes" to SUNSET BOULEVARD.

I'll add Detective Story, Elephant Man, Harold and Maude, Rosemary's Baby and Shane to that wish list.

While I don't think Elephant Man will be included (due to the SE being released in the David Lynch Lime Green Box), I'll take that list and add The African Queen to it.

I know what you mean, since I have Sunset Blvd. already. I'm lucky that so far, I don't have to double dip on the other titles.

I was hoping for a new commentary this time around, as the previous one was extremely disappointing. Octogenarian producer Richard Shepherd reminded me of Abe Simpson, at one point musing "Sing Sing is a funny name for a prison, isn't it? Some prisons have funny names." That was about as insightful as it got.

Mae West

How I wish that Paramount still owned the movies of Mae West ( whose early movies were responsible for saving Paramount from bankruptcy !! ) as they would have far superior remastered versions/extras than were produced by Universal for it's Mae West box set.

I need to pick up Roman Holiday and Sabrina sometime in the near future.

Good to see more Hepburn titles are on the way.

Re: The Official Paramount Centennial Collection Thread

So the Peter Bogdanovich and Laurent Bouzereau commentary from the previous SE of To Catch a Thief has been dropped? Lame. And enough with the triple dips already Paramount, give me Nashville and Shane!

Re: The Official Paramount Centennial Collection Thread

Picked up Sabrina and Roman Holiday over the holiday season.

Probably will pick up "Funny Face" and "Breakfast At Tiffany's" soon.

Breakfast At Tiffany's is almost an automatic upgrade with the inclusion of Mr. Yunioshi - An Asian Perspective as an extra
