Awesome news. I recorded the movie from a Monsters HD broadcast last year but I'm dying to see the director's cut and extras. I hope they use the original poster art...that used to scare the crap out of me whenever I saw it in the video store as a kid.

I kinda would like some additional information/clarification on the "director's cut with the original ending" comment. Is it just the alternate ending, or is there going to be more differences as well?

AWESOME news! I had this PVR'd off TV and would watch it from time to time but had to erase it a few months back and was regretting it ever since - glad to know that it's FINALLY coming.

i've had a pretty decent "that which we don't talk about @ DVDTalk" with both version. but, would love to have the oodles of extras and a proper release. one of like 3 movies to truly give me nightmares.

Fred Dekker: Most exciting for me is that they've given me the thumbs-up to put the original ending back onto the body of the theatrical feature. The compromised "Dog" ending will be on the disc as an "added value" extra, but the feature will end as it was originally meant to. (The TV version, which features the original ending, has many of its own compromises being that it was the TV version). In other words, this will be the first time the movie will be seen as it was originally intended.

Oh, man. Based on Dekker's comments it would be incredible if this got a BD release. I saw it on an HD movies station a while back and it looked pretty damn good.

WOW!!! I'm finally thrilled!
Let's hope the extra features are kept ancilliary as they are meant to be, and that the main movie gets an exceptional transfer with a high bitrate! Make it 2 discs if you must, but please don't sacrifice picture quality for sake of going balls with the extras.
Best DVD news in a LONG time, but I also said that last year when PHASE IV got its release!
