I don't care for the later WWE releases but I've collected any WWF PPV releases I could find. This is all I've found available to buy over the years..on eBay and elsewhere, so it might be a complete collection as far as WWF PPVs on VCD go. I started buying these as a lot of these events were only on VHS at the time, and still are. Then I decided to keep going with the collection since they are pretty unique, so I have some duplicates with my WWF DVDs. http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3782/wwfvcdsfe0.jpg |

Is Chris Benoit's name listed on the SummerSlam Anthology packaging?

Thanks for clarifying this SG! :)

Hey, long time lurker, first time poster. I registered here just to post in this thread, I'm a big wrestling fan and an avid DVD collector also. Mix them together, and this is the only time I've ever registered for a forum for one thread alone.
Anyway, dbwrestling, no way those VCDs are real. The great majority of VCDs are bootlegs, and some of those covers look a little sketchy to me. Also, if they were real, then no way would they have UFC footage as extra footage. That pretty much gives the game away. Also, could it be that the "special collector's edition" packaging for the Hell in a Cell DVD set from SilverVision is a kind of metal mesh 'cell' that covers the box? That seems logical, and would be absolutely awesome. If so, I'll pre-order the set, even though I've got half of the matches on other DVDs. |
Alright guys...where can I get the best deal on the Summerslam anthology?

In Canada we're getting the 3 disc digipack in a O-CARD. It could be that as well, the O-CARD could be made of metal mesh (not real metal probably) that wraps around the digipack. Still, the DVD looks awesome and would be great having all the HIAC matches in 1 set rather then going through different ppv dvds to watch that one match. |

Can't comment on the UFC advertisements though. Well, just look at the "2000" on the Royal Rumble 2000 cover. It looks amateurish. And Armageddon '99 wouldn't come in two parts if it was official, that wouldn't make any sense. |
I know this is going off topic, but I figure this would be the best place to ask the collectors. I'm currently looking to purchase 2 WWF title replica belts. The 1st is the classic "winged eagle" title belt and the 2nd is the Million Dollar Belt.
Do any of you own a replica belt? If so, where did you purchase them, and/or where could I get the best deal? |
WWEShop has them Dean

I guess It would make sense for WWE to release VCDs out there (they still do by the looks of it). I think there is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to the VCDs with people saying they are fakes. I'm 95% sure they are legit. I'm often in touch with somebody in Malaysia of ordervcd.com who can guarantee it, and himself is accused of supplying bootleg goods when that isn't the case. They are not shabby looking looking items, which would easily be deemed fakes and they have holograms on them. The artwork is crisp and looks real for sure. Most of the art work is correct to the event or psoter. I'd guess the Asian markets were not up to speed with the product at the time so wouldn't care anyway. Some slogans seem corny or written by non-English speakers but that too can be justified by the markets they were sold in. Each says Original VCD with a "WWF Proof of Purchase" logo on them and a number next to it, corresponding to that release. WWF Home Video TM logo, and "Sendi Mutiara" branding. I'm guessing the latter being the distributor, like a Silver Vision in UK. They also all have the 7 Eleven logo. I can't explain the UFC stuff but can't be beyond belief there was a joint deal going on or something. On the back of the casing gives information on the "Exclusive Distributor", backing up the claim I just made, being Sendi Mutiara Entertainment and gives contact details. Also has Malaysia Lisensee - Wayang Tinggi Marketing. One I'm looking at has (C) World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. All Rights Reserved and finally the warning message that the footage is licensed and unauthorised copying etc is prohibited. Armageddon 2000 has bar code with a reference code WWF 257/00 next to it for example. I really don't think they are bootleg. http://hosting01.imagecross.com/imag...7/3716vcd1.jpg http://hosting01.imagecross.com/imag...7/3910vcd2.jpg |
They dont look like bootlegs to me..
|
Apologies if I turn out to be wrong, but they seem like fakes to me. The "3 in 1" logo looks shady, as does the fact it doesn't have a WWF hologram on, only a Sendi Mutiara one.
Once again, sorry if I'm wrong. |
It's no problem. I'd just like to defend it since I've collected them.
New home video licensing agreements were concluded with JSS Home Video in Japan, and Sendi Mutiara Entertainment Sdn Bhd for Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia. http://corporate.wwe.com/news/2002/2002_09_26.jsp |

I placed my Summerslam order. Part of me is thrilled to be seeing these again after all these years. The other part is still worried about the packaging. And then there's going to be that regretful side when I get the bill. :)
A few more questions: the only 2008 PPVs I have are the Rumble and Wrestlemania. Does WWE still put out all the year's PPVs in a boxset? How much do those usually run, and would it be more cost effective to buy the set or get the rest that I'll need individually? |
I got Undertaker: The Phenom for $24.50 plus $5.50 shipping off of eBay. Finally.

R1? or R2? How unfortunate that your first post deliberately accusing another member's post to be bootlegs because its a vcd? Licensing plays a major key role in a non US region /country. Thus if you have doubts on a UFC footage being shown or advertised in a WWE video , it may not be common but as long as the "local" market distributor has release rights to whatever they aquire as distribution rights they can include everything (they legally own to distribute) to advertise and promote (but this is limited locally only). Its like here, WWE cannot distribute Old footage without blurring the WWF attitude era logo. But with Silvervision, its uncensored and not blurred. |

I apologised profusely to the poster, and understand that my post probably wasn't the greatest way to introduce myself to the forum. I just wanted to make sure that somebody wasn't spending their money on bootlegs without knowing they were fake. I now know this isn't the case, so I'd once again like to apologise to dbwrestling.
