People, please stop the squabling over posting pictures. I know some people like it, others don't. Personally, I find it interesting and fair game in the thread. Still, for those who post pics, the spoiler tag would be more appropiate, since the loading time is less.
If the discussion continues, I would be forced to report the offenders to the mods. Now back to the Eddie DVD.... |
Back to the Eddy DVD indeed.
Matches I wouldn't mind seeing on the Eddy DVD - matches that didn't appear on the original 2-Disc: Edge v. Eddy Guerrero (Smackdown, 9.26.02) Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero © (Smackdown, 03.18.04) Eddy vs. Dean (ECW 5/13/95) Kurt Angle vs. Eddy Guerrero (4/14/05) Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero (Smackdown, 6/23/05) Any of these tag encounters: Los Guerreros v. Edge/Billy Kidman (Smackdown, 12.26.02) Charlie Haas/Shelton Benjamin v. Los Guerreros (Smackdown, 02.06.03; for the Tag Team Titles) Charlie Haas/Shelton Benjamin v. Eddie Guerrero/Tajiri (Smackdown, 05.22.03) Charlie Haas/Shelton Benjamin v. Eddie Guerrero/Tajiri (Smackdown, 05.29.03) Charlie Haas/Shelton Benjamin v. Eddie Guerrero/Tajiri (Smackdown, 07.03.03) |

Question for those who own the Triple H: That Damn Good DVD. Are all the matches complete?
I ask because the HHH/Jericho match from Fully Loaded goes a little over 21 minutes, but from what I've read the actual match time is 23:11. |

It wasn't advertised, so that was a really awesome surprise for me, since that was the match the bridged their feud from WrestleMania 21 and Judgment Day in between The Great American Bash and SummerSlam. That's why I'd love to see the cage match on DVD, because it would complete the series of what was a long, but amazing feud.

Why can't the WWE pay the licensing fees and get all the original music and opening themes?
that is silly what if the star wars movies had the John Williams theme removed from it? everybody would complain. |
Because unfortunetely, most people wouldn't know the difference, or they don't really care.
I mean, how many people popped in SummerSlam '07 and said "damn, they didn't use "whine up" in the menus?" Besides me, of course. |
For the most part, I really don't care if they replace music on these releases. Blurring logos or chopping up the matches is about the only thing that really irritates me to a point where it would be a factor in me making a purchase or not.
|
If only you lived in Europe, I havent bothered getting the Rumble, WM or SummerSlam Anthologies 'cause I know the Tagged Classics are better!
|
Cut footage is the deciding factor for me. I don't like the blurring or audio edits but I've lived with them since Mick Foley's Greatest Hits And Misses. Someone please find out if any footage has been cut in the Summerslam set. That packaging from the sound of it still pisses me off but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want those events on DVD.
|
Just get the Tagged Classics from Amazon or eBay then :)

I've only seen up to 1994 and from what see nothing else seems to be cut. But i noticed the Tagged Classic version of SS 92 has the dark matches but the Coliseum video and the Anthology versions don't have them. Packaging is kind of a turn off, but just have to be careful taking the discs out and putting back. I was pretty dissapointed with the disc packaging when i first bought it, but i learned to live with it. I just hope they don't use this packaging for the Survivor Series and other future anthology releases. |
The date shown at the top left hand corner on SS94 is there because this is a transfer from the WWE 24/7 broadcast. This is the same case with WM13.

I just watched summerslam 1992 on the anthology, the Crush v repo man match definately seems cut after the missed legdrop, also in the kamala v undertaker match it looks like a cut just before taker walks the ropes.
Now i dont remember the actual event since i was young but did SS92 have sound problems? because on mine Bobby Heenan and McMahon are talking and all of a sudden it gets extremelly loud and then the sound drops again, happened numerous times. so im just wondering if something is wrong with my set or is that how ss92 was cos of the outside venue or something, also at times i would hear this drilling sound at various stages in the background, lol. I've watched 88-92 so far, outside of 92 the only other thing i've noticed in 91 is when they take the mountie away it just freezes for 2 seconds, i also got a small freeze in the warrior/savage match from 92....in the entire royal rumble anthology it only happened once....so im just wondering if anyone else had had these issues with the set. Still enjoying it but you would hope they would show a bit more care for the way they package these sets in future anthologies. |
Those 1-2 second freezes on 92 during the Warrior/Savage and 91 with Mountie taken away are just layer changes, mine does the same, but they were only like half a second. Some players switch layers faster than others, but its not a defect.
Most of the time they do layer changes when the screen goes black or something that doesn't interfere with your viewing experience. Most WWE DVDs have layer changes around 1hr 25-30 minute mark. As for the sound on 1992 mine was fine, but the sound was kind of different, i guess because of the television system used (PAL) then had to be converted to NTSC but not exactly sure. But i didn't have sound drop outs or any other issues. I did notice during the Taker/Kamala there was a cut before Taker walked the rope, i think there was a botch or something.

Thanks for the info on the freezing, yeh the sound was strange i'd have it on a set volume that im comfortable with and all of a sudden it became VERY loud not just the commentary but the crowd lol, then it dropped out again...i'd say it happened about 5-6 times through the event...again not a major issue with it since it was only for like 5 seconds each time, hasnt happened in any of the other events though, the drilling sound im talking about happends at the end when the bulldog is celebrating on the top rope you can hear the music (his theme) but this drill sound also in the background, happends at the start of the event as well i think the first match.
The only other thing i can think of is the picture quality of 92, 88-91 was fine but the nailz v virgil match didnt seem all that clear and 1 or 2 others from memory.... again thats maybe because it was an event that went from day to night, by the time the main event came around the picture was perfect. Anyway im about to watch 1993 hopefully i got nothing to whinge about after it, lol. |
I've only seen up to 1994 and they seem to play fine, but going to take a break from the anthology and finish watching volume 3 and 4 of the Royal Rumble Anthology since i haven't had a chance to finish those yet (only seen up to 1998).

My first post here. :)
Whilst these aren't strictly DVDs I thought you guys might be interesting in seeing my WWF VCD Collection. They are official and were released in Asia, but everything is in English. I don't care for the later WWE releases but I've collected any WWF PPV releases I could find. This is all I've found available to buy over the years..on eBay and elsewhere, so it might be a complete collection as far as WWF PPVs on VCD go. I started buying these as a lot of these events were only on VHS at the time, and still are. Then I decided to keep going with the collection since they are pretty unique, so I have some duplicates with my WWF DVDs. http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3782/wwfvcdsfe0.jpg |
You got jipped, man. Those are just the boxes!
j/k, they look pretty cool. Interesting how Stone Cold is on the cover of WM '00 even though he wasn't even part of the event. |
I'll post photos of the disks if there is interest ;) Yeah, some of the cover art and slogans are strange but I put that down to them being Asian releases. Some of them contain bonus discs of UFC.
|
I have the Insurrextion 2000 VCD. It also has a disc with UFC stuff on it included. I wasn't really very happy with the video quality of this, so I never bought another one.

Was on the TNA website and noticed on the their 2008 dvd schedule they will package Victory Road, Hard Justice and No Surrender in a 3 disc packaged titled: "Cross the Line".
I hope the 3 pack won't be a TNA shop exclusive or any other store exclusive, then finding out few months later every retailer will carry them. |
