a strange edit that has not been mentioned is on the SummerSlam '89 dvd... each time they show a 'flashback' and it originally read 'Superstars of Wrestling' in the corner, they have covered the text with a banner that reads only 'Superstars'... during one of the clips they even blur the blue banner that hangs from the top of the arena that said 'Superstars of Wrestling'... even a verbal reference to 'Superstars of Wrestling' made by Tony Schivanoe is muted... seeing this reminded me of a something i had originally noticed on the Bret Hart doc and later on the Piper doc where they seemed to cut and paste enlarged 'Superstars' graphics over 'Superstars of Wrestling' graphics on old clips. This is a must puzzling trend. Any ideas of why WWE feels it needs to hide the 'of Wrestling'? Adding to the strangeness of these edits is the fact that they do not make similar changes on the SS 88 or 91 DVDs, where 'Superstars of Wrestling' logos are very apparent.

I seem to remember reading that someone besides the WWF at the time owned the term "Superstars of Wrestling", which was why the program later just became WWF Superstars. No idea why they weren't edited on certain events, unless someone missed it.

It sucks that WWE doesn't use the original theme songs for SummerSlam from the past few years. I remember how disappointed I was when I popped in SS '07 to hear that "Whine Up" had been replaced with generic dance music. It was a good summer song and one of the sole bright points of the show.

But the '06-'03 had damn good themes, and it's a shame they couldn't keep them. Flair's theme music was dubbed over in the original release of SS '02, anyway. The same for the Dudleys in the '03 show.

Here's a question for anyone who bought the set: what's the blurring like for volume I, if any? That's the one I want to pick up, but WWE's notorious blurring has permanently turned me off (I still haven't even bought the Rock's new DVD).

What I think best suit your completely silly statement is:

A photo image of a fellow DVDTalk member's collection (which is very informative) made you possibly:

a.) inferior?
b.) weak?
c.) silly?
d.) intimidated?
e.) all of the above?

Dude your list can be submitted to Genius/WWE Home Video and may trigger a possible pull out of the SummerSlam boxset (due to inconsistencies of licensed music utilized)??

I compiled that list for reference purposes. In addition, I just want everybody to know what songs were changed from when they initially aired. I seriously doubt my list would halt production on the SummerSlam Anthology.

I hope Circuit City or another store has a Summerslam DVD deal like last year, when 2004-2006 were like $15.

I am praying they release summerslam as individual volumes

would it be wise to shell out the $160 for the entire set or wait until they release individual volumes or could the summerslam set go out of print and single volumes never get released and if you don't grab it now you will be paying $600 at ebay for it in 4 months?
Its great to buy the boxset if you want the "cooler box" to put the volumes in. Basically when the volumes are released seperate you won't find the box, unless you find someone selling the cooler empty.

I think the box for Summerslam is very well made won't tear and rip, like i read some people experienced with the Royal Rumble anthology where the middle would split and tear if opened many times (i never experienced that but i did see photos of peoples rip in half).

I say to buy the whole set. Despite the bad packaging of the discs, its actually very secure and the discs don't move or nothing, just have to be careful taking and putting back in. I hope they go back to using the flip book hubs for the Survivor Series anthology.

Being proud is one thing. Constantly spamming this thread with it is another.

At the very least, he should spoiler his images, so those of us who are actually interested in discussion don't have to wait through pictures full of 97 different versions of the same damn thing.

Like Throwback I myself am one of the most avid collectors of WWE/Wrestling related Videos and DVDs in the world. My collection owes a lot to Throwbacks time and effort to post pictures of all these USA Exclusives, because if he hadn't made me aware of them I simply wouldn't have them in my collection.
Believe me, I'm not jealous of someone buying 10 different versions of the same thing. I'm just saying that it's a hassle to constantly have to scroll through a ton of pictures just to get to actual discussion...a spoiler tag would solve all that, and let him still post his pictures.

Seconded. The pics don't bother me at all until they get quoted and suddenly the page just fills up with the same images repeatedly.

For anyone interested, ROH is having a "fan appreciation weekend". If you order between now and noon today, you can save 33% off of your order. Between 12:01pm and Monday at 9am, you can save 30% off.

+10000000000000000000

As soon as I see the threads of pictures start popping up I leave the thread... suffice to say I haven't read this thread in a hell of a long time.

looks like the new eddie dvd will in fact be a 3 disk set

i hope it doesnt have anything that was on "cheating death stealing life" dvd, just make it like a part 2 with all the other great matches he had and just have little introductions like the rey 3 disk was done

cheating life was a great dvd and one of the best dvds wwe has ever done imo, but eddie is one of the best and if they make this a part 2 with 3 solid disks packed with all his best matches not featured in his first dvd it would make for a perfect dvd for his career

maybe put some more wcw matches on there, they have that whole library so why not, if its a 3 disk why not put an entire disk of wcw matches on there that they missed the first time

one more thing about the eddie dvd, lots of you say there should not be any dubbing on dvds, like having the same match on several dvds

i think it depends on the case, for this new eddie dvd almost every eddie fan already has his first dvd, especially since its a 2 disk set, so why dubb the matches on that on this one

but for say reys dvd i have no problem letting them put eddie-rey halloween havoc 97 on there even though its already on the eddie dvd, cause there are lots of fans who will just buy the rey dvd and not the eddie dvd

so it depends on the situation but for the new eddie dvd there should be no repeat matches hopefully, that way they can put all the classics they forgot on there and they we have a total of 5 discs of his awesome career and everything would feel complete

p.s.i also hope when they another undertaker dvd they make it tombstone part 2 or something and the same thing, that way it can focus on the stuff not featured in the first dvd and gives them the room for everything else

That might be one of the funniest wrestling spoofs I've ever seen.

As for the Eddie DVD, I'd love to see it. The 2-disc set was clearly not a definitive collection, but I wonder what matches they'd feature. Off the top of my head I'd love to see:

-vs. Batista - World Heavyweight Championship Match - No Mercy 2005
-vs. Rey Mysterio - Steel Cage Match - SmackDown! - September '05
-vs. Rey Mysterio - The Great American Bash 2005
-vs. Kurt Angle - SummerSlam 2004
-vs. Brock Lesnar - No Way Out 2004 (I didn't buy the 2-disc, lol)
-vs. Chris Benoit - Vengeance 2003 (ditto)
-vs. Edge - Unforgiven 2002
-vs. Edge - No DQ Match - SmackDown - September '02
-vs. Rob Van Dam - IC Title Match - Backlash 2002

And some stuff from his first WWF run in 2000, not to mention the WCW stuff from '95-'99.

Who? Is this a joke? That ad was hilarious. I may have to get this (if it's real) just for the comedy value.

Or it could go the other way and someone posting pictures can be seen as incredibly insecure & in need of support.

Either way, it's not THAT big of a deal. I'll probably post pictures of my collection if I ever find the time & energy.

to the guy who said eddie's dvd was clearly not a collection, maybe not but it was still dam good and one of the best dvds ever
-vs malenko in there last ecw match(classic pure wrestling match)
-vs rey from halloween havoc 97(classic wcw cruiserweight match)
-vs jericho from fall brawl 97(another classic cruiserweight match)
-vs lesnar when he won the title
-vs benoit from venegence

those are just some of the matches plus it had a awesome doc on him

i personally hope they include lots of his old wcw stuff, he was awesome back then, he always was but back in wcw he was lighter and was in his prime, just look at his match with rey from havoc if you dont believe me

also i remember watching a match with edge and eddie, it was a ladder match from smackdown i think, i pretty sure it was edge vs eddie, it was a great match and hope its on this new dvd

since its a 3 disk hopefully they could include all of this stuff we mentioned, hopefully not to many little extras i would rather see full matches and thats it, thats what he was known for

Quit being an ass. There's a reason why a lot of people on this site don't like you and continue to belittle you.

It's a goof. It's the former Chris Harris in his WWE persona that lasted all of 2 matches.

just finished watching SummerSlam92...is it just me or does it seem like the Crush/Repo Man match is edited? Looks like it cuts right after Crush misses the knee drop from the top rope....my coliseum videos are stored/buried and inaccessible at the moment or i would check...anyone watched it yet?
