And if you're going to boycott anyone who ever had someone die on their set, you might as well add such directors as Doug Liman, Wolfgang Petersen, Rob Cohen, John Woo and Alex Proyas. No picking and choosing allowed.

Somebody's sarcasm-o-meter is out of order.

My gosh. How could I forget this? I do understand the economics of why some shows are released without the original music, however, I would rather wait until they get the funds or whatever to release it properly. That said, I will admit, though, that I had to buy Quantum Leap S4(?) and S5 without the original music. It is one of my favorite shows of all time. What I did do is buy the R2 versions of S2 and S3 with all the original music intact. For S4 (I can't remember if the R2 version had the original music or not) and S5, I have/will find alternative means of watching the original versions of the shows that don't contain original music.

The real unforgivable sin is releasing a TV show with syndicated airings. There is absolutely no excuse for releasing any TV show with any syndicated airings. Fortunately, most of the shows that I want/have are released in their full, non-syndicated glory. The only shows off the top of my head that I will not buy until a proper release comes out is Alf and the Canadian versions of the Outer Limits (new series). I know there are others, though. Will and Grace comes to mind.

You would still boycott them, even if the cost of securing the home video release rights to these songs would be so astronomical that they would not be able to release the sets at all without jacking out the price bigtime?

Ridiculous!!! And groiny, too.

If this is for real, I'm curious as to why Tim Burton and Wong Kar Wai. He'd have to force sex upon a retarded pigeon during a Kol Nidre service to get me to stop watching "In The Mood For Love"...

Yes. I would gladly pay more for a release of one of my favorite shows if it had the original music than get it cheaper with shitty replacement music.

Bullshit. Fatty Arbuckle did no such thing. The media portrayed him as a rapist and murderer, but he was eventually found not guilty. The public and news media created lies about him and what happened that night, and tried him before he even set foot in court. He wasn't guilty, end of story.

EDIT: I see you were joking, didn't quite catch it until you mentioned Orson Welles. In that case, carry on.

MATT MILLHEISER,
I never liked Tim Burton's style - the only two that I barely appreciate are Batman and Batman Returns.

Wong Kar Wai is one of the worst directors ever. Here are my choices:
a. watch a Wong Kar Wai film with bored-looking people standing around smoking cigerettes as if they are French actors, with neon lights and smoke machines blasting away in the background, and with no storyline.
OR
b. watch an Andrew Blake film with couples having sex, with neon lights and smoke machines blasting away in the background, and with no storyline.

I would rather watch an Andrew Blake porno than a Wong Kar Wai film...Although I am excited to see the Ashes of Time Redux, which is probably the only Wong Kar Wai film that I would appreciate.

You would. But the majority wouldn't. And it wouldn't be financially feasible for a studio to release the series in such a manner.

Trust me, I understand what you're saying. But I'd much rather have the series released at all, rather than paying say $50 extra just so I can hear a snippet of "Tiny Dancer" during the Prom Scene in which Ernest Thodwhacker Accidentally Invited Two Girls To The Same Dance, blableebloogroin

Yeah but see, a BOYCOTT is usually engaged because of moral, political, or cultural reasons that conflict with your own.

You're just not a fan of their work.

That's like saying "I'm don't eat at Arby's because their food makes me queasy", as opposed to "I'm boycotting Arby's because their corporate owners are trying to clone Hitler."

Well, if it wasn't for the French he would not be the director he is today. So, the Gallic influence should be understandable.

Same goes for Ming-liang Tsai, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Anh Hung Tran, etc.

Ciao,
Pro-B

Well, that's not really a *boycott* is it? I'm sure everyone has actors, directors, genres, whatever that they don't like/watch/purchase. But that's not really the same thing...

I refuse to buy any of the WWE's DVDs that have theme music changes or blurring out of the 1998-2002 "WWF Attitude" logo. Does that count?

Is there a list or thread somewhere of which TV sets don't have the original music?

You've got that backwards. Brent L's statement does not exclude DVD's where animals were harmed.

I don't buy new DVD's with Tom Cruise, and if the movie for some reasons is worthing or I like the director (michael mann, steven spielberg as example), I buy it used in my local shop.
