Nice, clean set-up you have there.
|
Steebo, it would be so interesting to see a walk-thru video of your home theater, to get a better idea of the layout :)
|
Good call Abe.!

I totally dig his set-up too. I'd kill to be able to have a projector, but DLP will have to suffice for now :)

What's the best place to buy those DVD Marquee's (the one that holds your DVD case and states "Now Playing" at the top)? And if it's online, is the site reliable?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
PacMan - I've always liked Home Theater Marketplace. http://www.htmarket.com/ |
Steebo really nice! Does it get cold? It looks like it would...
About the only thing I'd do is get a matching black leather sofa and paint the walls... my friend has a black and forest green color scheme that looks really good. |

That's great.
What do you two do with the cases afterwards though? I've been wanting to transfer as well my discs into a more convenient form of storage, but then I'd have to waste even more space storing the boxes away. And no, I don't think I could just throw them out. All the special cases, odd colors, 2-disc, etc, I keep. Any box set, I leave the cases in them and display (you can see in them in some of my photos). I also keep and display any digi-packs. Warner snapper plastic things, I keep those and store. For the 400-500 discs I have... that amounts to about 50 special cases in a box. Clear, pink, white, green, double silvers, double black, etc. I do have maybe 10-15 basic cases, just in case. Nothing compared to 500. Discsox DVD Pro fit everything from the case without any odd folds. This includes Warner snapper cardstock covers. I've sold stuff after having them in these... people can't tell. -beebs |

The Wii and 360 camera are eye catching, which they shouldn't be. They're the only white components in your set up. You should look into getting them painted black or ditching them. The Wii won't be missed. Trust me. It has no good games. And that 360 camera...well that's useless.
You won't be watching all of those movies. Look into starting up a Netflix account to cut down on movie-buying costs. Let us know how it goes. |
man these collections are great. i have netflix also but i need to have some dvds for me lol

I store all my DVDs away in sleeves in boxes. That's about 500 discs in those eight small boxes (8" x 10" x 6"). I use Discsox for the sleeves, I wait for imperfect ones get them half-price. The boxes are Ikea Kassett, 2 for $8. Normally they are perfect for holding 15-16 DVDs in their cases. In sleeves, I can fit in 60 per box nicely. Plain pine bookshelf from unfinished furniture store, 12" wide, 12" deep, 5' tall - $50 new in 1996. Fits in any wasted corner. -beebs |

Those Discsox look great! I was wanting something like that, but at $1 a piece it costs half as much as some the the DVDs I got (not many, but a few BL ones!). How do you get them half price and is that the cheapest you've gotten them for?

I updated some of the furniture at the layout of my HT. Also added a PS3, a few Blu's and HD-DVDs to the collection. This weekend I am making some acoustical panel treatments for the hard floor in front of the speakers and the walls, as well as framing some more posters I have to put on the walls.

I think it's behind the screen.

I like that display, but would like to adjust the shelves to get maybe three or four more shelves. Is that possible or are the shelves fixed and where did you get it? Thanks.

It's from Ikea, and yeah, the shelves are fixed unfortunately. It is cool though because it is on casters so you can wheel it around to get to the back.
i have that exact same ikea set, it is even more massive than the picture makes it seem (need a person in there for scale =). since the shelves arent adjustable i actually use mine for graphic novels, which is perfect. also my ceiling is higher so i can display things on top. it wasnt too expensive though, only a couple hundred bucks, and i recommend it because even though its a pain to put together its lasted me through three moves and not fallen apart yet. d |
when are they starting a new thread of these?

Thought I'd perform some CPR onto this thread. Recently bought a house -- I've placed all my Boltz racks into an unfinished storage area underneath the basement stairs. Now no one can ask to borrow my preciouses -- out of sight out of mind right? :)
