Looks like Riot, the post below yours, has a couple of these shelves as well. I recently got one from Best Buy on sale to store my TV on dvd. Paid about $80 because the box was open. Seems pretty decent for what I paid for it. It goes together like any other shelving system that you need to assemble. Uses the press board and some insert nut thingys, as well as pegs and small nails. This thing is HEAVY. I would anchor it to a wall, if possible. Of course the space I had to put it in, putting it against a wall wasnt possible.
I like it because every shelve, except the middle one where the two main sections join. everything else is fully adjustable with those little metal pins.

Ha! Thanks! Got them all (I think it was last year) when Best Buy had them all for $10.00 including the New Adventures & She-Ra.

27 on Wednesday. And what is wrong with Pokemon? It is a great show. I am a huge animation fan. Hell, that was the show that turned me on to anime.

Hey Riot, if those are the Atlantic 1080/504 cabinets, you can easily add 2 additional shelves/rows to your unit (converting them from 6 rows to 8). Instead of using that extra space to store dvds horizontally, you'll be able to store them vertically like the rest of them. Adjust the shelves so they leave about an inch to 1 1/2 inches space above the dvds & that should fill up the extra space

For example, here's a picture of my cabinet.
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v483/lanemyer1/?action=view&current=IMG_3992.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/lanemyer1/IMG_3992.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

BTW, that's only a third of my collection. I just moved recently & I'm still trying to figure out how to set up the rest. Space is limited. I like what you did with those individual shelves on the wall so I may do that. I'm also looking into getting a new entertainment center. Unfortunately, this will have to do be done little by little. This will definitely be a work in progress for me.

yea it's my guest room closet...i hung the track shelving in the picture above it (and removed the shelving that was in there) this past weekend which is why there are tools and such on top of the dvd shelf.

they're the 756/360 models so that's maxed out. i highly recommend going the track shelving route...each shelf holds 75 dvds and i can fit 7 shelves on the 62" tracks.

Here's my shame:

Spoiler:

Some subtle changes since the last time I posted these.

A closer look at the dvd towers
http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/865/img0087gq.jpg

The two towers on the left are movies, (A to Z) and the one on the right is music and TV.
I'm just a little bothered by the box-sets on top of stuff (arranged mostly randomly) - I don't like clutter and it's like Jenga up on top there.

BTW, that's about 1,600 dvds/blurays, with room for about 400 more.
I think these towers allow for the most amount of dvds in the least amount of space. Otherwise, it'd be two whole walls of dvd shelves instead of just that corner.

To the person with the halloween pumpkins, am jeolous of the nes. My stepdad got rid of mine over 10 years ago while I was on a trip and it still ticks me off. He got rid of the unit only so ended up I getting rid of my games including track pad and duck hunt. Have gone back and forth about replacing it. I got some of games on my wii now. Love the pictures everyone keep them coming.

The little boy touching the screen kills me. I get nervous when my little ones get near the big screen. I've had my seven year old well trained at only touching discs at the edge and hub for a couple of years now. My wife enjoys watching me squirm when the kids pick up DVD's and put their little greasy hands on the artwork. It's very fun to watch movies with them though.

Hey riotinmyskull, I can't see your pics for some reason (maybe some kind of filter at work) but I'm curious to see. Years ago I converted my bonus room closet into media storage and used track shelves. I really like having it all out of sight. Very inexpensive too compared with what a lot of media shelves cost. Only problem is that it is full.

Thought it'd be a decent idea to post this in here:

Those of you with the dark wood Atlantic shelving units in need of just a little extra space might want to stop by Wal-Mart and check out their media cabinet area. They've got Atlantic shelving units that are identical to those -- only with one row (114 DVD / 136 Blu-ray) -- for $25. I believe the measurements come out to exactly the same as six DVD shelves high, instead of eight.

You let your kid touch your DVDs? Even my wife knows to NEVER touch my DVDs without asking first and even then I usually put the DVD in and take it out of the player myself. But a kid? HELL NO! I have converted a spare bedroom of the house into my DVD Library for more of less one reason... I can lock the door. In a few years when we pop out a kid that door will be locked 24/7! If the kid wants to touch his own DVDs that is fine. But the first time it goes for one of my Disney DVDs or whatever a kid might wanna watch... Well I rather not say... One day when my kid goes missing I don't want this post to be my confession.

i'm assuming this is what you're talking about: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4183883

does anyone own these? can you NOT put the curved edges on. seems like they'd get in the way. how bad would they look w/o them?

Here is my collection. There are quite a bit of gaps because people have realized that I'm like their own personal blockbuster. Things are also a little messy as I just moved a month ago.
