It's cheaper then buying it in bulk for bottles -- however I do find myself drinking more -- so it's a wash most likely :-)

Don't have gameplan, but I have been able to catch both games in HD on Directv.

You guys would laugh at my collection right now. I will be getting a HDTV that I am saving up for and right now I am in between moves so all my DVD are in boxes but I am still collecting as well. I have about 60 titles all together.

Just completed install of the below system in a new home.

No longer have the impressive shelves full of DVD and Blu-ray titles that I see in many of your posts--instead, went with multiple changers in a central hub location (in excess of 2500 DVD titles currently, and awaiting delivery of Blu-ray changer for Blu-ray title storage).

you have a gorgeous setup in your home. quick question though, where is the central hub located? It seems like the kind of thing that would stand out and be quit gawdy in the middle of a beautiful home.

Re: Post pics of your DVD collection and HT, Part 12

SethDLH:

The central hub is located on a wall in our basement. The front of the equipment you see in the picture will eventually be enclosed behind a glass door. The rear of the equipment opens into an unfinished storage room in the other side of the basement.

The central hub in combination with a Crestron backbone and Escient movie/music servers enable us to watch any of the 2500+ movies, albums, DirecTV DVRs, Sirius/XM sat radio or internet radio stations in any room in the home.

Working great so far--keeping our fingers crossed.

Thanks much for feedback.

As most of us on this Forum can attest, this stuff becomes something of an obsession? curse?

good to hear! sounds like an amazing setup and its great that you are able to keep the not-so-attractive side of things out of sight :)

Re: Post pics of your DVD collection and HT, Part 12

krampster, that is amazing. I've seen few professionally managed server rooms that look better. Well done!!

I finally built some shelves and consolidated my small DVD collection and book library in my basement. I thought about posting a picture or two, but reading this thread I see there is no need. I stand in awe.

Speaking of server rooms, I have to ask - does that setup require much in the way of cooling?

krampster 09-24-09 02:55 PM

Re: Post pics of your DVD collection and HT, Part 12

No cooling at all--operates extremely well at room temperature.

(Of course, only the music is ripped to a drive as the DVD's are being "served" through the 5 400 disc changers.)

So we only have to be concerned about the music drive, the amps and the DTV DVRs, all of which seem to be fine without cooling. Having all of the system components open in back help contribute to this, I'm sure?

outlander78 09-24-09 03:15 PM

Re: Post pics of your DVD collection and HT, Part 12

I imagine anything with a hard drive in it also has a fan. Does anything else in your setup run fans, or do they all use passive cooling?
