More Legend Films DVDs on July 1st

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v1_lis...ite_media_id=0

I'm particularly keen on Girl On the Bridge. Unfamiliar with most titles. Pied Piper looks interesting. Any recommendations?

Btw, I noticed a lot of these titles are available at Deepdiscount for $8.28.

I'm in for John Sayles' "Baby, It's You" - I can finally retire my vhs copy. Now, we need "City of Hope."

Yeah, that's the one I'm eager for! When I checked the Legend Films site, though, all these July 1st releases were from the comedy/drama categories. So maybe there's a specific "2nd wave" for horror/sci-fi?

I've pre-ordered "Partners" with Ryan O'Neal and John Hurt. Now another title I can take off my want list.

I was looking forward to The Girl on the Bridge but DVDBeaver gives it a nasty review.

I got the ones I wanted from the second wave at Best Buy last week. It seems not all stores are getting them, so check on-line or call first.

What a great way to get your product out there.

I wanted Framed and Phase 4 and my best buy didn't have any as well.

And you cant even order them form Legend's website. WTF.

I'm mad!

I got an e-mail from Best Buy this morning saying my order (Partners) had not been received in their warehouse(s) yet. It was supposed to be a Legend release for yesterday, July 1, 2008.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Now I get an e saying my shipment is on the way so I guess everything's OK. Or shoulld I want until I actually have it in my hands first?

[B]I got it yesterday (7/9/08). I'm pleased with the quality although no special features.[B]

By my calculations, roughly 1 out of every 10 Best Buy stores carry these titles. The closest to me was 30 minutes away; I burned some gas money to pick up The Sender and Phase IV. Don't blindly drive from store to store looking for them, the best way is to search products through the Best Buy Store Finder (Phase IV is the product entered in this link): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....itemId=1241300

I also spotted Joel Delaney and The Skull at the Best Buy in Tempe. No Student Bodies.

Still waiting for Best Buy to stock these online.... I seem to remember going through this with the Universal Sci Fi collections, what an awful way to distribute DVDs.

I'm assuming Phase IV has a fantastic opening credits sequence, given it's director?

Actually not. There really are no opening credits to the film. It begins with a text of 'PHASE I' and goes on from there throughout the film, indicating the different phases with a text number as they occur during the film. "Phase IV" is really a prophetic phase that only happens after the story on screen is finished and that "PHASE IV" title only occurs at the end of the film during the end credits. As a kid of 12 seeing it in the theater at the time, I was really impressed that the actual title of the film (and credits) all came at the end that way. I had never experienced anything like it at that point before. So Saul Bass did the ultimate anti-credit sequence by avoiding the very cool flashy opening one he's known for and instead only giving us a very simple prophetic one at the end. Genius.

By the way, there were only 2-3 people (including me) in the theater that I went to on that opening day. Sad, but true.

That is too bad. So far Phase IV is my favorite of the Legend Films I've watched (few of which I'd even heard of before).

Btw, finally got an email from Deepdiscount saying they mailed out my Girl On The Bridge and Pied Piper pre-orders.

The Best Buy in Independence, MO has the second wave titles now. According to the website it's the only store in Kansas City area that has them. Just got back with my copies of Deadly Bees and Man Who Could Cheat Death. They have a few left of each of those. Around 5-6 of Phase IV. Some Student Bodies, The Sender and The Skull also.
