HEROES: Season 2 (8-26-08)

From tvshowsondvd.com

"Let's move on to Season 2, then! The Writers' Strike knocked the second season, subtitled "Generations," down to only 11 episodes, running 484 minutes, and these will come on 4 discs in both the DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats. As a result of the short amount of content, the cost of the DVD version will be just $29.98 SRP, and the high-definition Blu-ray Disc release will cost $49.98 SRP. But just because the prices are nice, don't expect them to miss out on the bonus material. Here's what extras you'll find on the Season 2 DVD release:

* Audio Commentaries with Cast & Crew
* Deleted Scenes
* Heroes Season 2 "A New Beginning"
* Takezo Kensei: Sword Saint
* The Drucker Files
* Genetics of a Scene
* Tim Sale Gallery of Screen Art
* NBC.com Featurettes
* Generations Alternate Ending
* Inside The Alternate Ending of Generations
* Untold Stories
* Season 3 Sneak Peek"

Wow... those prices are unbelievable... I was expecting $50 for the SD and $80 for the blu-ray... Sign me up for a pre-order on the Blu-Ray!

According to Tvshowsondvd.com The Blu-Ray extra special features include all off the SD as well as

- Hero Connections: Bio's, PIP Cast & Crew Commentaries
- Hero Connections: Network
- My Scenes
- BD Live: Enabled

Very good amount of special features and great price, expect it even cheaper on release date I would say. We might be able to get it down to $20 on release or Christmas ( I got S1 for $15 day after Christmas). Looking forward to this!

I was wondering how the studios were going to be handling the pricing for these strike-shortened seasons. Honestly, I wasn't too optimistic that they'd stray from the normal prices. This news is good to hear.

And I just realized that I haven't read ANY of the installments of the online graphic novel. Guess that'll give me something to do this summer.

Especially if you're going to get the Blu-ray edition. Since the Blu-ray S1 set comes out the same day, you're likely to get a decent deal release week for both sets.

With the MSRP of $29.98, this will probably get a release week price of either $19.99 or $24.99. I think there was maybe 4-5 "good" episodes out of the 11 from season 2, so I will have to wait and see if the bonus material is enough for me to get this. I would love to know how many commentaries there are. I know NBC.com had 4 video commentaries from these 11 episodes and I am not sure if they will be ported over to the DVD as audio commentaries.

No threadcrap, just a warning to anyone who hasn't seen season 2, expecting it to be on par with season one to adjust their expectations, as season two is a far weaker season. I think everyone can agree on that.

One of my fave TV shows along with the now defunct Jericho. Definitely a must buy for me!

I've been wondering how I was going to continue to buy shows I have started on DVD now that they will be coming out on Blu-Ray as well. Price points like this make it easier to figure out. It's more than I wanted to pay for 11 episodes but far less than I expected to pay.

So DVD active is reporting $39.99 for the SD and $69.99 for the blu-ray... Who do we think is right: them or tvshowsondvd? I mean the $40/$70 price points aren't that far off the mark either, they just arn't the pretty awesome priceness that tvshowsondvd was reporting...

Considering TVShowsOnDVD talked to the studio themselves and has a more substantial writeup, I'd be more inclined to trust them.

I'm not sure how I feel about the cover artwork (where is Kristin Bell and other newbies??) but I certainly hope they keep the spine, as it would (finally!) match with the other season(s). I can't stand tv seasons that change, like how House has different spine placements, or the Office having different packaging (S1 regular dvd case, 2 & 3 different). Hopefully they'll be same with Heroes. Although I like the idea that someone thought of on dvdactive - they should have made a progressive eclipse throughout the series. Could have been cool.

Artwork S1 and S2 (S1 for comparison):

Could be worse....If K Bell was there, I'm sure the Wonder Twins would have found their way on. That said, if you're talking about storyline importance, Adam was the biggest player amongst the newcomers. Not complaining but from what I remember, the role KB played had a feel of them just creating it to get KB some screen time. Not that I'm complaining....

what im thinking is whos going to have the exclusive
i have the target exclusive for season 1 and there is no way in hell it would look nice with season 2 the way its coming out

i need an exclusive
hopefully target gets an exclusive
with the same spine.

or at least a different retailer.

i second that. and hopefully the exclusive edition is the same packaging/spine as with season 1, with another bonus disc and cardstock tim sale artwork. i would absolutely love that.

Actually it's a color balance issue. I love the subtle shot of Sylar.
