I agree... I think we should leave the "borderline" movies up to "committee" vote. Someone comes in and asks "does X movie count?" We vote and leave it to the majority. Then next year we can tailor the rules to fit better. But then again, Im all for whatever so, its just fun for me and Im getting a chance to finally get caught up on some of the movies and tv shows (smallville) that Ive been putting off. And it would be a shame to leave off one of the best movies in a while, but I can definitely see where its not sci-fi at all.

What do people think about Trekkies? I can see that one going either way but thought I'd ask.

I say Trekkies is about an actual science fiction phenomenon, namely the fans. I would draw the line at a doc on a specific film.

Seems like Trekkies would be categorized as a sci-fi documentary.

Was there a final say on whether Hancock would count?

If you want it to count then count it.

That sounds great. It's been quite awhile since I've seen either film. Hopefully I'll make time for those two.

I think so. It's got the machine running amok aspect to it.

I've pretty much given up on reaching 100. If I was able to get more in this past week I could've had a shot but I'd have to do about 10 a day from now on to do it.

Trevor, I'm not sure if I mentioned it but I think you can go ahead and put the Batman movies on your list and number it. I saw you had the new one but didn't number it.

Challenge of the Super Friends sure went downhill on season 2. The Legion of Doom got replaced with whatever villain of the week was and we also got the Wonder Twins. They might as well be the Jar Jar Binks twins for the good guys.

I'm lucky in that I have a job with lots of down time, so that helped in generating the obscene numbers I've done so far.

I normally wouldn't think of them as sci-fi, but since I watched a couple of them I just wrote the names down. I hope everyone has seen The Dark Knight. It truly does live up to the hype, a great film even outside of the comic-book genre.
I hate that I'm just watching and listing things. Normally I'd like to spend more time writing mini-reviews, formatting my posts, discussing things more, and doing the checklist. But I'm still a bit depressed I guess, and just resigned myself to doing nothing but working and vegging on the couch watching TV this month.

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping to delve into those DVDs at some future date, and had forced myself to forget the pain of the wonder twins.

saw it, but I can't say it's "sci-fi"

I added Batman Begins / Dark Knight to my list ... if the rules change again I'll take them off.

I did, it seems more sci-fi than other Comic movies (lots of fancy new tech, etc).

I have to say I watched 'The Great Behemoth' twice, the movie and then the commentary - ugh, even the commentary track with Dennis Muren and Phil Tippit was condescending and of little content, the movie AND the commentary were both a waste of time.

It shouldn't. I watched Batman Begins yesterday and figured the Scarecrow and Batman gadgets were good enough. Haven't seen Dark Knight but I'll assume there's some sci-fi type gadgets.

But it sounds like they were at least talking about stuff and not just narrating the movie and patting themselves on the back. A good example of that is the first Austin Powers commentary. Dead silence, occasional words and the movie counts in this challenge.

actually, there's a lot of dead silence, I'm of the opinion that if you have nothing to say, you shouldn't say anything at all... granted they generally pick the film to death, in how not to make giant monster movie, they relay little to no info on the actual history of the movie.

Did you just watch it recently or was it one of those horrible little things you can't forget. I fall into the latter.

It's definitely not an easy one to sit down and only focus on watching it without letting your mind wander. They really should've increased the volume of the movie so we'd have something else to do.

the former, I rectified the flaws of 'The Great Behemoth' by then watching the infinitily superior 'The Valley of Gwangi'

How about Batman: The Movie (1966) and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog [1/2 point]?
