Color me EXTREMELY disappointed that the DVD of Hot Moves is in MONO! I have the VHS which has a great stereo soundtrack, so I don't know what the problem was with preserving that on the DVD. It's almost like changing a color picture to black-and-white.

Wow - that's an hilarious comment. I bet they sold 10 copies of that DVD and one of the 10 customers is complaining already.

Wow, usually when discs go out of print you can still find them at certain places but, not much luck with Savage Streets. Some people are selling it on Amazon Marketplace: the cheapest is $50 for a used copy and the highest is $150!

Code Red's site is still listing upcoming titles, so possibly they've gotten another distributor.
Interesting note about Savage Streets- Vestron was ready to issue this on the defunct CED videodisc format in 1985, a year after the format was already on life support. A few discs were printed but it was decided not to be issued for some reason, so it's an extremely rare title for those who collect the format. I'm lucky enough to have it.
(I have EVERY title put out for sale on that format, but still can't find Story of O, a title that met a similar fate as Savage Streets.)

They would've sold a lot more than that if they had done it right! It was pretty hard to find too, but I grabbed it when I did. I would've ordered otherwise. Hot Moves is a great movie and "American Pie" owes a lot to it, but it loses a lot without the stereo. (American Pie in mono would be preferable to Hot Moves in mono.)
I think as fans of these films, we should be happy it's out at all, and grab these ASAP, as I waited for a sale on SAVAGE STREETS, and now I have to pay triple for it! And even realizing EXTERMINATOR and THE MANITOU was not in stereo surround (MANITOU was pretty rocking on the big screen), I still purchased them, because it was nice to see them uncut, and in widescreen.

So I searched around the Best Buy site to find out the only store in eastern Massachusetts that had any was located about 40 minutes away. Three were left so a buddy and I took a road trip to get em. Now that's what collecting is all about ....

What was funny to me was that it disappeared almost overnight. A local Bestbuy had at least 20-30 copies split between their action/horror catalogs and they weren't moving - at all. Then I caught wind of its status and went over there one day and every single one was gone. For such an obscure film I was very surprised by this.
Resellers are definitely buying the title up. When I was at Fangoria's Weekend Of Horrors a week ago, this guy selling OOP DVD's had a stack of sealed copies at his table.
Obviously for the same crazy-ass prices it goes for on Marketplace.

For anyone still looking for a copy at a decent price, I saw 3 copies of Savage Streets (in the horror section) at Simi Valley, CA Best Buy
Final Exam looks to be getting pretty scarce as well

Looks like the "Exploitation Cinema" line is back up and running. Two new releases on May 26th:

I wonder how "Don't go in the Woods", "The Forest" and "Devil Times Five" will compare with their standalone versions. Same transfer but zero extras?

And more in August:
The "Teenage Mothers" that is referred to is actually Teenage Mother with Arlene Farber, the classic trailer for which can be found on the first 42nd St Forever disc.
For August, we will have the U.S DVD debut of Brian Trenchard Smith's STUNT ROCK, as well as some more EXPLOITATION CINEMA double bills, including never before released Horace Jackson's DELIVER US FROM EVIL, plus FOX AFFAIR, and TEENAGE GRAFFITI, plus TEENAGE MOTHERS, and many more. Stay tuned!

Stunt Rock looked suitably bizarre from the trailer included on the Sweet Sixteen disc.

Found a couple Savage Streets, put one on Amazon as a lark and it sold for $47. Should I sell the other now or wait? Can't imagine it gaining much in value.

I've wondered if Donald Trump was narrating that...

Glad to see these coming back... not glad to see that the canceled Starcrash release isn't part of the first wave

I might have to grab Stunt Rock. The trailer looks insane in a bizarre kind of way.
Those double-features look tempting as well. I don't care about their extra that much, so I may grab them.

More release info from their blog:
According to comments on Code Red's blog, the film is The Strangeness (1985).
On July 21st, we will release the 1978 action-thriller POWER PLAY! This coup d'etat thriller stars Oscar winner Peter O'Toole, and cult stars David Hemmings, Donald Pleasence, Barry Morse, Alberta Watson, Michael Ironside and Dick Cavett, and was directed by award winner Martyn Burke. The film will be presented in 16x9 widescreen. Extras include an audio commentary by director Martyn Burke, an on-camera interview with co-star George Touliatos, as well as an original trailer. MSRP is $24.98.
Then on July 28th, we will release for the first time on U.S home-video, the Italian giallo THE WEEKEND MURDERS. Starring opera star Anna Moffo, as well as Euro-cult stars Evelin Stewart, Peter Baldwin, and Gaston Mochin, the film will be presented for the first time anywhere in 16x9 widescreen at 2.35:1, and it has been mastered in Hi-Def! Also included are an audio commentary with star Peter Baldwin and HOSTEL producer Scott Spiegel, moderated by Lee Christian, as well as an on-camera interview with Baldwin, a still gallery, and the original trailer. MSRP is $24.98.

Mark Sawicki, a well-established spfx expert in Hollywood, was kind enough to come in and help us supervise a telecine of a cult monster film he did many years ago, and he even brought the monster with him! We found the only surviving 16mm elements of this 1980 monster film (it was shot in 16mm) and we did a new 16x9 widescreen 1:78 transfer (as requested by the director) mastered in Hi-Def! We will be doing an audio commentary with Mark, Chris Huntley, and the elusive director coming soon. We will also include 6 short films they have done in USC. This is a rare, cool 80's monster flick you should definitely check out. Don't be afraid. It's only a movie. We are shooting for a August 18th street date.
