What is the difference between the original Dawn of the Dead DVD and the edited Zombi DVD ...which is the same movie. I want to buy them, but don't want to waste the money on the same movie. I noticed Zombi is a bit shorter, but the description says it added some stuff. Let me know.

'Dawn' is the US Theatrical Cut edited by George Romero, 'Zombi' is the international theatrical cut edited by Dario Argento. Dawn has Romero's commentary, Zombi has the actors' commentary.

If you're really a fan, I HIGHLY recommend the Dawn of the Dead- Ultimate Edition box. Right now deepdiscount.com has it for only $23. I'd buy it again if I didn't already have it.

Zombi is the Euro cut done by Dario Argento that deletes most of the character scenes and adds some more gore scenes, if your inclined buy the 4-Disc Ultimate Collection it has 3 cuts of Dawn and a disc of really good Documentaries

Zombi is a completly different movie. The humor is gone, and theres more gore in the Zombi cut. Also the score is 100% goblin, and there is no 'liberary music'.
If you can find it, get the 4 disc ultimate version, which has a third cut which is 139 minutes and a bonus disc with 2 feature length documentaries.

I'll stick to Dawn of the Dead. The Documentary intrigues me though. Looks like we're going 4 disc.

The "Zombi" cut is pretty bad in my opinion. Everything is destroyed by trying to turn it into an action flick. The overuse of Goblin music feels out of place and is too repetitive. The apartment complex scequence is just lame now with the Goblin score blaring over it.

The extended cut,is likewise to bloated and dulll and is just a rough cut of the film really.

The 126 minute theatrical version is perfect though! Everything comes together in that version.

I LOVE zombie type things, but I haven't even seen many that I actually enjoy watching. I can really only handle the original Romero 3, the Night remake was terrible, new Dawn wasn't bad, POSSIBLY return of the dead...1...., I remember Children Shouldn't play with Dead Things being odd, but not all that good, and that's about it. I almost liked Resident Evil 1 and 3.
I never really got into Land of the Dead, Dead Alive, Bad Taste, and all the other such random Gore Fest zombie movies that lack any tangible plot.

...and without arguing zombie vs infection, 28 days/weeks was semi enjoyable.

I guess that doesn't make me much of a true zombie fan. =\

My wife and I do have a zombie escape route at my apartment at least.

I'm suprised no one mentioned the 4-Disc Ultimate Collection which has both versions. I may be alone but I reccomend you getting that.

Completely agreed. My preferred version is the same as the one Romero prefers: the original cut of the film. The Cannes cut is too long, and the music cues are slightly different, and the Zombi cut just doesn't work. Still, it's great to have them all in one package.

I guess I'm the only one that catches an "Epic feel" with the Extended Cut.

The theatrical cut definetly has the best music mix though. No doubt about it.

I bought Dawn on Blu-ray and Zombi on DVD. That's enough for me.

I actually prefer Anchor Bay's "accidental" cut the disc with the "Andy Warhol" cover. It includes some of the deleted scenes but retains the theatrical cut music.

I have a VHS tape of a 144+ minute version that combines bits and pieces of the various international cuts which I would've loved to have on DVD.
