I wasn't trying to imply that he did a commentary I was pointing out that the guy who directed part 3 was listed as doing a commentary on part 2.

And I was pointing out a possible reason why the guy who directed part 3 was doing a commentary on part 2.

Cosmatos did a commentary for the original SE dvd back in 2002, so that is what's being ported over to the new disc, and the MacDonald listing is a misprint.

the 1st Version of the trilogy was 4 discs and in a box similar to dune (remake/tv version) directors cut, with the case in a metal case around it. just look for rambo special editions/trilogy on amazon. i know its discontinued but is still easy to find, what was cool was that this set had a decent amount of special features, all i think are being ported over to the new Rambo 6-disc set coming out...

A few weeks back, I was clearing out some of my DVD's here. I still have The Rambo Trilogy (4-Disc Metal Cover Special Edition) for $20 shipped if anyone is interested.
Just shoot me a P.M.

I've been trying to confirm if the only special feature on disc 2 is the digital copy of the film when I stumbled on a link to this undated document file which I hadn't seen posted before and seems to lay out the features orientation of the 2 Disc DVD and Blu-ray versions:

http://www.lionsgatepublicity.com/ep...t_sheet_hv.doc

Here's an excerpt:

2-DISC DVD SPECIAL FEATURES
DISC ONE:

· Deleted Scenes
· “Legacy of Despair: The Struggle in Burma” featurette
· “It’s a Long Road: Resurrection of an Icon” featurette
· “A Score to Settle: The Music of Rambo” featurette
· “The Art of War: Completing Rambo” featurette
· “The Weaponry of Rambo” featurette
· “A Hero's Welcome: Release & Reaction” featurette

DISC TWO
· Digital Copy of the feature film

2-DISC BLU-RAY SPECIAL FEATURES
DISC ONE
· Audio commentary with Sylvester Stallone (featuring a Blu-ray exclusive expanded option that
takes the viewer beyond the film with extended and Bonus View ™ Picture-in-Picture
exploration into the film’s casting, locations and other filmmaking secrets.)
· Deleted Scenes
· “It’s a Long Road: Resurrection of an Icon” featurette
· “A Score to Settle: The Music of Rambo” featurette

Yeah but they will probably not have any of the extras on the single disc so you will have to buy the two disc set.

So if you get the Blu-Ray you get that picture in picture, an extra featurette, the trailers for all the films and whatever MoLog is.

I plan to buy the Blu-Ray anyway, the digital copy is STUPID!

Does anyone know where there's a pic of the new Rambo Complete Collector's Set with set opened up to see the layout of the set? I can swear I saw one about a month ago, but can't remember where. I believe it's a foldout-type set. Anyone?

It is a fold-out set. I think DVD Active might have pics, but I'm not sure.

Edit: It looks like the new collection set is only missing a couple of extra trailers and 1 or 2 featurettes (which were mainly just montage footage). If anyone can confirm if the new set has DTS on all 3 original films then I might spring for it. It's on sale for $34.99, which is only a little more money than the $22.99 for the 2-disc set of the new film.

DVDEmpire has a pic of the back cover art for the tin set-

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...or=1#topoftabs

Looks Awesome! Definately picking this up

Can anyone tell me if the tin set has ALL of the extras from both the Special and Ultimate Editions of the original 3 movies or does it leave some things off?

Did anyone see Sly on Leno last night? He mentioned that a director's cut of the latest Rambo installment will be on the horizon retitled John Rambo.

Yep, it's a foldout digipack set. The set isn't a snug fit inside the tin box though. Mine was kind of sliding around a little bit in the box.

Is the new set just all ultimate editions from the previous box set with the 2 disc rambo and an extra disc of bonus features?

On the Rocky Balboa commentary he said there is also going to be a DC of Rocky Balboa, and he still needs to release better editions of all the Rocky movies. I will believe it when I see it, but will probably double dip on it.

Then i'll be holding off on this also. I'll get the directors cut later on. No need to go through all of the hastle of buying the set this week and then pawning it off to get the directors cut later. I was planning on getting this dvd this week but that's on hold now. Espescially now that I know there will be another release of this dvd.

it seems that the 1 disc version is barebones, while the 2 disc version has the commentary, and other bonus features.

Got my complete collection tin on Saturday and it's a great set. The Rambo disc has a commentary from Sly and some docs. What is quite funny is that on the editing feature they mention that the version on the disc is the "R" rated version, and is also the editors and directors cut so you should not see another version come out! funny that! There are 4 deleted scenes, nothing amazing. But the picture and sound quality is great on this disc. I was watching it upscaled on a 50" RSP and it looked great, I really don't regret not getting the BD version.
I tried doing the digital copy thing but it wouldn't allow it, I assume because it is not released until tomorrow.

Does anyone think that $34.99 will probably be the best price for the complete collection? I just sold my crappy Ultimate edition set and was hoping to eventually get this, but I don't know if I should wait or not.
