I love the insert shots from the original film during that trailer.

I'm there on release date. Looks like a terrible, yet amusing time.

Poor Casper Van Dien. I remember reading an article around the time the first Starship Troopers came out touting him as a great leading man, huge future potential etc. Damn.

I am quite interested in this and will probably purchase on release day.

The vulcan from Enterprise is clearly finished as an actress as far as leading roles in mainstream films go. A pity as well.

Depends. Are you one of the people who believed AvP 2 couldn't possibly be as bad as part 1?

Some guys were born to play Indiana Jones or Peter Parker, or Superman.

Casper Van Deim was born to play JOHNNY RICO.

Too late for that... the first movie was already a complete reversal of the point Heinlein was trying to make in the book.

Yup. Day 1. But only because of RICO!!! Can we get a blu-ray release too?

I remember thinking after the first one, Casper Van Dien was going to be a huge action star. Then Tarzan came out...

It was a direct to video thing a few years ago. I think the most interesting thing about it was the commentary and listening to some of the people who were involved w/ the first one talking about how they made the second one on less than 1/10th the budget.

I saw it on cable (no commentary), but the only part of the 2nd one worthwhile was the blond chick getting naked.

With Ed Neumeier behind it, I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I thought the same thing about Jason Scott Lee. Then Jungle Book came out.

Hmm.. I kind of like the first one, ignored the 2nd one.. but based on the trailer, this one seems to get the joke. Maybe it'll be worth it.. as long as there's plenty of nudity to go with the bad dialogue and recycled special-effects shots.

Ultimately though as a cinephile, I'm officially opposed to straight-to-video releases, but maybe I'll rent it anyway.

More S&M with Casper and Clancy Brown, please. Maybe they could wear leather this time.

Reading this thread made me go back and re-watch the first one. STILL a great movie (although nothing near as great the book, which strangely tells the exact same story while giving the complete opposite message). This movie is a first day rental for me.

I liked both of them but then again I was watching the movies for the bugs not the acting. I think the animated acting is better than the movies. I love Rider Strong's voice.

I though Johnny Rico was Puerto Rican in the novel. Van Diem... seems a bit nordic/aryan.

I'll give it a rental. Haven't seen the 2nd one, but it sounds like that's a good thing.
