Was kind of on the fence about Destino but might spring for the separate release.

Both Donald Volume 4 and Dr. Syn shall be mine.

I usually get them from Deep Discount when they have a 20% off sale.

I usually get them at Costco, since their price is almost always good for these. and then I can pick out the least dented tins, and not worry about them getting dinged up in the mail.

From the Ultimate Disney Site:

I just received an e-mail from Leonard Maltin who has confirmed that a replacement title is planned to take the place of Destino in Wave 8 of the Disney Treasures series.

In short Mr. Maltin stated "We have added a wonderful disc on Annette Funicello to replace Destino."

In other great news Mr. Maltin was also quite hopeful for the future of the Disney Treasure line with a desire of releasing a Zorro set next November. In his words he stated "Zorro should be coming next November, 2009."

This is wonderful news for Annette fans and even greater news for those wishing for more Walt Disney Treasure titles in the future. Hopefully WDHE keeps up their end of the bargin.

How can he utter that sentence with a straight face?

Well, to bad for Destino, but can't wait for Dr. Syn though.

Just got this from Ultimate Disney:

Greetings,

It turns out there will be three new Walt Disney Treasures sets released this year after all. The limited issue collector-friendly line continues on November 11th with a trio of volumes holding classic animation and live-action TV programming. Each 2-disc set is now up for preorder at Amazon.com, with a 30% discount and the e-tailer's price guarantee should they go any lower. Help show that there is a definite market for these specical, enduring releases and that Disney fans want more than just Playhouse Disney and Disney Channel episode compilations.

The Chronological Donald, Volume 4:

I totally missed the Destino announcment, kinda disappointing but at least it's still getting released. So that makes only one Treasure for me to ask for this Christmas, Donald v4.

"Pretty well confirmed" where?

That's pretty disappointing news about Destino. At least it's coming out -- but it would have been great to have some really detailed documentary-type stuff along with it. (And that feature on the stuff Disney wanted to do but didn't could have been cool...)

Only 2 tins this holiday season? Disappointing. Although these always seem to be in flux.

EDIT: It would help if I read the entire thread. Looks like there will be 3. Of course, I have zero interest in that Annette set... so just 2 for me.

This wave looks disappointing, but I'll probably pick them all up since I have every Treasure released thus far.

Spoken like a true OCD collector. Thankfully, I don't have all of them so I don't feel I need to buy any of these. I wanted Destino.

For those interested in Destino, here is a very brief clip from youtube. There are a also a few versions of the whole thing (five minutes or so) that people have filmed with their cell phones, but those are obviously not of optimum quality.

From the Disney Classic Animation BD thread:
In conjunction with these releases, Destino, the unfinished animated feature film created by Walt Disney and famed surrealist painter Salvador Dali will release. Begun in 1946, it was rediscovered in 2003 and completed by Walt's nephew, Roy E. Disney. The collaboration between these two legendary artists will be available to own for the first time along with an all-new feature-length documentary that examines the surprising partnership between Dali and Disney.
I assume this means a 2010 SD release for Destino as well.

I was looking at Deep Discount and all of the Wave VIII Disney Treasures are listed as unavailable. Amazon says the same thing.
Any announcements about a cancellation?

Well, according to Speedy they're going to be showing up in Sunday's Best Buy flyer, so I guess we'll see.

DD has it that way as certain companies don't want their DVDs included in the sale. Also, I just saw it listed at Amazon. Preordered mine.

BTW, at UltimateDisney.com ( http://www.ultimatedisney.com/treasures.html ) they are indicating there are only 39,500 copies (tins) of each being issued. That's a really low number so don't wait to long to get one.

I have Dr. Syn and Donald pre-ordered from amazon. Dr. Syn is in "shipping soon" mode right now. Donald is not.

I haven't heard anything to believe these are being cancelled/postponed.
