Is series the plural form of series?

I was putting off buying the Pirates of the Caribbean movies until the third one came out so I could get the box set. That didn't happen. I know the set is inevitable but I've already rented the third movie so it will be a while before I decide to watch them again. I will eventually buy the set but it won't be anytime soon. They've lost my business for now.

It's the same for Resident Evil. I was planning on buying these to add to my zombie collection. No set so I rented the third one.

A Child's Play box without the first movie? Why'd they even bother. I don't think this has been changed since the last time I saw it.

What really got me thinking about this was The Terminator. I watched the new show this week and got a craving for the movies. I haven't seen the first one in quite a few years. Lo and behold there's no box set. There are about 50 different releases of T2 though. I'm gonna try to pick these up sometime soon. I guess I'll have to figure out which versions.

What else is still waiting for a release?

The first Child's Play movie is held by a different company (I think Fox, via MGM) than the sequels, which is why they haven't released a box set with the first movie.

It's the same sort of issue with the Terminator films. The first one is owned by Fox (via MGM), the second is owned by Lionsgate, and the third is owned by Warner Bros.

However, a Pirates boxset and a Resident Evil box set will probably happen eventually.

I knew that was the case with Child's Play and figured it was with Terminator. I would think something could be worked out some way or another for both of the series but I guess it all comes down to the almighty dollar.

There already is a "Resident Evil" boxset available on Blu-Ray...

Another set we'll never see because of too many companies owning the individual films is "Halloween".

maybe that's why the pirates 3 two-disc is a "limited edition"? it's supposed to stop selling 10/08 or something like that, so then when that's gone, maybe they'll put it in a box set where you can only get the 2-discs. dunno.

i remember seeing a box set in a nice black box with the skull and crossbones on pirates 3 release day and grabbed it, thinking it was a box set. but then it was a box set for the soundtracks, not the movies. was kinda surprised they had such a nice release for the music, but not the movies.

I guess you missed the news that "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" will be released next week. I mean a month from now. I mean in July. I mean in Q4 2008.

I'm afraid it mainly boils down to mixed distributors or distributors that don't really see the point.

Frankly, when it comes to the Terminator series if I could buy parts one and two together, and didn't already own them, I would consider. However, a boxed set that included part three? Well, it would have to be cheaper than parts one and two seperate to consider.

I completely agree that would be one fantastic release.

A good size cabin replica as was discussed a long time ago which never happened. Have the front of the cabin open up somehow, and have trays for the films like in the ultimate matrix boxed set with the neo bust. Then on the left are the discs in those trays, and on the right you have replicas of the different versions of the necronomicon used. Ultimate evil dead set right there.

Not R1, but that sphere set from the UK is about as good as they come.

I'd love to see a proper Friday the 13th box set of the Paramount-era films. The current one sucks ass, so that would be my pick.

Many of those old series are either unavailable because the original elements are gone or in bad shape, or in the public domain. Public domain companies very often stick 20 or 30 movies on a handful of discs and put them out cheap, but they don't tend to wait on getting an entire set together. They are in business to put stuff out fast and cheap so they can make a couple of bucks off it.

Death Wish would probably be a popular set, but is also owned by several companies.
