Ill have to give this one another view. The first time was just okay. Thanks for the update.

I loved it glad its on HD dvd. Angelie Jolie was really amazing in it.

mikelowry 12-22-07 04:20 AM

Have not seen this on the big screen. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

ReduxGuy 12-22-07 04:44 AM

I KNEW there would be a director's cut, given all the deleted material Roger Avary talks about.

I'm surpised they're not including a "A Hero Comes Home" music video.

You missed a treat. The presentation was awesome in IMAX 3D. In fact it was too awesome. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it as much without the 3D so I might skip the home release.

Is this director's cut going to remedy the annoying Austin Powers-style fight scene in the mead hall? I'm not saying I necessarily wanted to see 3-D motion-capture shlong, but the fact that he was running around naked, doing battle, always with other stuff convienently placed to block his stuff only drew more attention, and was unintentionally funny. IMO, they should've either gone all out with that scene, or just put a loin cloth on him, and forget the fact that he was naked in the original story. The Austin Powers business was very distracting, and pretty stupid.

I saw this in 3-D aspect of it was cool, the film itself was weak. I'll pass.

VoreLord 12-23-07 07:59 AM

It is possible to replicate the digital 3d on a dvd ?

I'm pretty sure it was intentionally funny. Or trying to be, anyways...

This film will really suffer without the 3D but I liked it enough to check out the director's cut.

Don't have an IMAX near me that showed it, but I thought it looked good on a regular projector in the theater. I'll be picking up the DC.

What version is the HD DVD?

Snowmaker 12-24-07 06:52 AM

After seeing it in IMAX, I can't see watching it on DVD.

Mao 12-24-07 12:00 PM

I'm in.

Neeb 12-24-07 04:50 PM

Great to watch in 3D IMAX.
Not so sure I want to watch this in my home.

Snowmaker 12-24-07 10:21 PM

Wonder if the DC will be UNRATED. The liquid gold could ALL run off Angelina instead of stopping at just the right places for a PG-13 rating.

I have to say even though the IMAX screen was larger, I found the Dolby Digital 3D less eyestraining. Double imaging was much more prevailent (and annoying) in the IMAX engagement than the DLP-3D

is there a running time for the Director's cut of 'Beowulf' - I read early on, that some of the violence would have resulted in the film being R-rated.

It is not possible to recreate the dual projector polarized 3D system used in BEOWULF on DVD. And that's a shame.

uncle-frank 01-07-08 04:57 PM

never seen it. ill rent it tho

dhmac 01-07-08 10:55 PM

I couldn't imagine seeing Beowulf in 2D instead of 3D

In 3D, it was less like just watching a movie and more like an event! It'll lose too much in the transition.

Here's the artwork for all 3 releases:
