This deserves an official thread.
The ABC television series Perfect Strangers, starring Mark Linn-Baker and Bronson Pinchot, is coming to DVD. The first and second seasons will be available to own on February 12, 2008.
TVShowsOnDVD has the press release.

A friend of mine sent me a hilarious IM last night about how this was coming to DVD and he was joking about how he would buy every copy of it. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he even bought ONE copy of it. I did, however, tell him that the DVD event of 2008 was already known.

TVShowsOnDVD has the box art. Simple, and captures perfectly the spirit of the show.
I'm excited and scared at the same time. One of my favorite sitcoms of all time is coming finally to DVD. Couldn't be happier. Just don't want Warner to screw up any part of it. To reiterate what I said in the other thread, I urge them to use only the original network broadcasts, and replace as little music as possible. (Only songs I remember are "At the Hop" and "I Love L.A.") And, please, finish the series!

I recall liking this show enough that I may get this set. Balky Bartokomous (sic?) always cracked me up. Didn't he used to dance in the toilet or something?

I’m thrilled that Perfect Strangers is finally making its way to DVD. If this sells well I hope WB decides to start releasing seasons of its spin-off, Family Matter on DVD. If they (starting with Perfect Strangers third season DVD Release) released both shows seasons on DVD on the same date (like they did with Cheers and Frasier before fu*king Paramount stopped releasing more seasons of Cheers
) that’d be great!

Are any retailers offering anything with the Perfect Strangers set coming out this week? Like a free T-shirt or keychain or something? I think the answer is no but I wanted to check to be sure.

Family matters has been on in reruns on tbs (or some channel like that) for years now and has had time to keep expanding its audience. Except for the brief run of perfect strangers on ion, I don't think it has been seen for a while. But now that I've seen how depraved bronson pinchot is in real life (surreal life), his naive innocence as balki just seems even more strange.

In other news, Circuit City.com has the DVD set priced at $19.99, but the ad didn't feature it at all. If I knew they were stocking it in the store, I would happily price match at Best Buy, which is charging $24.99. Think I'll call them tomorrow.

I looked at a copy and all the episodes run between 24 and 25 minutes. They're uncut.
It's amazing to me that in 1987 the major networks were still doing shows with only five minutes of commercials. Today it seems they have almost as much commercial time as actual content.

Yep, it seems like they are uncut. I just read this review that confirms it. So I'm going to pick this up tomorrow for sure.
"but the main thing is we have the episodes all unedited for the first time since the original ABC broadcasts."

There was a Christmas episode that I really liked. I hope it was within these first two seasons. The boss character yells at his wife for throwing a party for the employees:
"I don't even like these people and you spend a hundred dollars feeding them meat!!"
I don't know why I remember that, but I liked it.
